Yeah Champweb had some speculation about it. The Pollock thing started a while back, then went cold, now seems to be red hot again. If it happens, hopefully it's a full 2 car deal.

From what I've heard Pollock is trying damn hard to get everything ready for St. Pete's in February.

Who would drive?
Is there any chance of 2 cars AND having them ready by St Pete? |

From what I've read, it takes weeks to get a Lola converted to the new engine spec, not sure how much time it takes to convert a Reynard or cars already running Cosworth. I haven't heard any driver names associated with Pollock.

I hope Pollock can start up a team, another two car team would be great. I wonder who would drive? There are plenty of good drivers without contracts for this season, so hopefully he can sort something out with Herta, Papis or someone.

Pollock would maybe go a Herta or Papis to get some experience into the new team. He's seen plenty of Euro talent so maybe a young paying gun for the 2nd car. He hasn't even got an office yet I assume so it's all creative speculation. But maybe next week we could be surprised by how far along it is.

hmmm...why Montreal?
Where's the team going to be based? Think they can make it for St. Petes? Whatever the answers to the above questions, good to have him aboard. |

Hmmm. Why Montreal? Good question, Jay.
Molson or Labatt? Champweb says to expect the announcement before they unveil the new logo, which is slated for Feb 15. Counting Bourdais and 2 cars from Pollock, there's 18... And I believe there's more to come and we're all gonna be pleasantly surprised! |

Just hope they all come through...
If its a Canadian sponsor surely they will want a Canadian driver... is there one around still with the profile (excluding JV) |

Neil Young is Canadian.
Although I don't think he drives competitively. |

Why Montreal? Remember "Newtown"? Free publicity for Pollock's and Jacques' restaurant/dance club would enter into it for me.
Also wouldn't be surprised if they had some amount of sponsorship or anyway logos on the cars. As far as Pollock signing people who have already been turned down or priced themselves out of the market, I doubt that. I also doubt he'll sign Memo Gidley, so never mind suggesting that one. But I have no idea who he's even considering. |

I think he'd be doing well to have 2 cars ready for St pete's, and that he'll have Memo or Papis, or someone similar, in a first car, with a second one maybe to follow.
But, is this the old PacWest equipment he's said to ahve bought? Or something new? As for a Canadian driver being wanted, maybe it will be Jacques leading the team in 2004, with a 2 car team of others this year, if Labatts or whoever don't mind waiting. |

If they were to be Canadian drivers, don't rule out Micheal Valiente or David Rutledge.

I don't think you'll see JV running in champcars again as a driver...but....
Villeneuve and Pollock were pretty big supporters of Cart. Even if Jacques does not want to drive there, I wonder if he might be sponsoring Craig's team in some way (Newtown on the side of a car? ). Or have some financial stake in it... |

Wasn't Molson looking to get in last year? They could have those cool Twin labels on the sides of the car. My personal choice would be Labatt's(the offical beer of Bizzo)

Lemarie is suppposed to be the driver. Irvine is Pollock's fat-chance-choice. Apparently this has been in the works for the last 9-10 months. Anthony Davidson was strongly considered too.

Yes if this is true this is good news...
Onward, ever onward!!! CART rises pheonix-like from the ashes. Stronger and better! Ok I'm getting a little too poetic. But CART's resilience must be causing Messrs Tony George considerable indigestion... |

Box of Kleenex for Mr. George! Defibrillator for Mr. Brock Yates please!
And could somebody please tell Mr. Foyt that he'll have to share his sandwiches with Mikey now? Mikey says it's in his contract .... |

Another one that I hope is true. Getting Pollock raises CART's profiles since he's a serious player and started a F1 team. Maybe in the future more people who would like to run a private F1 team will be looking at CART instead.
Isn't Blue the #1 imported beer in the US? It would make sense for Labatts to get involved. They would want to take away some of the HUGE PR Molsons gets from the Canadian races plus increase their share in the US. Last edited by Snrub; 10 Jan 2003 at 19:38. |

It's a seat for JV in 2004 though.
