Lars should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Changed: Lars' Thread to Vent (Pizz & Moan) *G*

Winston Cup News -- A General Motors racing official said Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway ( the site of Sunday's UAW 400 Cup race) that the new 2003 Grand Prix that Pontiac will submit for NASCAR's approval will be based
off similar templates used by Ford and Dodge in the development of the Taurus and Intrepids. It's all part of NASCAR's march toward parity in the sport.

My thoughts...We have the Taurus & the baby Taurus (Intrepid)...now were going to have a GM Taurus??? LMAO.

I heard sometime back, I don't remember when or where, that all the cars, regardless of make, have a Ford rear end in them. Can anyone verify or dispute this?

Ford rear end

I understand that all the Winston Cup cars use a Ford 9 inch rear-end.
(I'm not sure what the 9 inch is for, maybe the ring gear)
It is supposed to be the most durable of all the manufacturers.

Pontiacs Complain

Roselsdy3,
It is rumored that Pontiac may get some "adjustments" before Atlanta.

I'm no seeing anything about the Chevys getting anything though,
the Chevys do appear to be off just a little too.

I've been enjoying the way Dodge (ie : Sterling) has been running but the last thing that I would want is a "runaway",

I enjoy close racing and if you can beat the others with the cars being equal, then you have truly beaten the best.

I just hope that Nascar doesn't give Pontiac too much, it could give Pontiac too big an advantage.

I really think Nascar should make the rules before February and quit "adjusting" the cars.

You know what I mean, "Get it RIGHT the first time !!!"

9" is the ring size. Cup guys use them because they are the lightest & most durable (like Stan said). I'm assuming the Busch & the Trucks all use the same Ford rear end also?

In the weeks leading up to the 500 all I heard from Chevy drivers & fans is how much of a bunch of whiners the Ford guys are & what a bunch of sandbaggers they are. Had to listen to Jr. say Fords are sandbagging...Son, your pop was the master at it. Had to listen to a genuis like Mike Waltrip say that we worked harder than the Fords...yeah, right.

If you're going to give cr*p, expect to get cr*p in return.

I don't know... If I were a non Chevy fan, I'd probably complain too. Since 1995, there has been 1 Pontiac and 1 Ford Champion, and the rest was all Chevy. That's 5 for Chevy, and 1 each for Pontiac and Ford.

But considering I am a Chevy fan (even though I own a Dodge) and all but one of those Championships were Jeff Gordon, and the other was his teammate, Terry Labonte, I ain't complainin' at all.

I think that there should be SPECIAL rules just for Jeffiepoo. He's the reason why Chevy can't get a break.

since 1995 , Hmmmmmmmm

The Pontiacs and Chevys seem to be struggling,
I don't think they would "sandbag" 3 races.

1 Ford Champ & 1 Pontiac Champ since 1995 !!!
That makes 5 for Chevy !!!
Hmmmmmmmmmm, Could it be time for a Dodge Champ ???

Of course Chevy is the reason the "stock" isn't in stock cars anymore. When NASCAR decided to let them use the Lumina. First time a front wheel drive car was able to run in Winston Cup & NASCAR let them stretch the wheel base to match the Thunderbird. And the Chevy camp whined about the Taurus when it came in because it was a 4-door sedan. Big Whoop. Chevy should have worked as hard as Ford that year. NASCAR still gave them breaks that year even though Wonder boy was winning everything in sight that year.

Let's go back the past 20 years....Buick 1 championship, Pontiac 2, Ford 3 & Chevy 14. The one year Bill Elliott kicked a$$, Nascar decided to outlaw his Cleveland block....hmmmm, who is Nascar's favorite??

Another tidbit...In that same 20 year span chevy won 14 manufacturer's cups, ford 5, buick 1 & pontiac 0.

If this what Nascar calls parity...I'd hate to see what they would do if they thought pontiac, ford & dodge had any advantages over chevy?

And I hate to be called Mr. Ford or Ford boy as I've never owned one in my entire life. I just don't wear blinders and see who the biggest crybabies in NASCAR are.

From the newletter...

Chevy Teams None Too Happy
General Motors teams were irate at what ended up as another Dodge-Ford finish; the two brands have beaten GM's Chevy and Pontiac every week this season. Here, Chevy stars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick were never in the race. The top-finishing GM driver was hard-driving rookie Jimmie Johnson, who was sixth. "Hey, it's obvious," Chevy's Kevin Harvick said, pointing to what he called a Ford-Dodge aerodynamic edge. "When they were at Daytona, they had to take three-quarters of an inch off the Ford
rear spoiler. What does that tell you? That they've got a lot of downforce in that car. So when they come here and put the big spoiler back on, it's pretty simple.(Journal Now)(3-5-02)

(And it's pretty obvious who would have dominated Daytona hadn't they all crashed out of the race. *G*)
