Cars getting air at Rockingham
I went to Rockingham on Sunday for the F3 race and I was watching in Turn 1 above the chicane and I was shocked to see lots of the cars hitting the second kerb and getting the fromt of the cars VERY high off the ground! I remember car 19 hit it and got so high that he got all the wheels off the ground and I think he had to retire with damage. It was very windy that day so that probably didn't help.

As I understand it the chicane at Rockingham was more than tricky - it was bordering on the dangerous. At least four cars suffered severe damage to the driver tubs - in at least one case it completely split. Having seen some of the photos the whole thing needs to be looked at before someone really gets injured.
Cars were getting airborn and getting the rev limit 'maxed' out as the rear wheels were in the air for so long. It was cleary audible. |
