Rally Holdup in Argentina!

I have just read that a number of Rally people were pistol whipped and robbed in a restaurant in Argentina! And here I thought Formula One had a corner on all the crime in motorsport!

I'm very glad everyone is all right, and the criminals were caught. My own idea of punishment is to make each one ride a stage tied to the bonnet of Colin McRae's car. Since Nicky can't see out anyway, and Colin apparently doesn't watch where he's going, it shouldn't create much difficulty and I bet it would cure them of ever bothering rally people again.

Probably another vote in favour of Rally Mexico. Problems like this and the troubles for F1 in Brazil may take S America off the m-sport calendars. Good to hear that the injuries weren't more serious

and as you say the perpetrators ought to enrole in Max and Berns School of how to REALLY mug people

from www.wrc.com

There is now apparently increased security around the rally. Armed patrols have been put on guard outside hotels and restaurants, and will accompany the drivers whenever they are out in public. TV crews will also have protection when they are out to the rally's stages.

It has been reported that Argentine police have arrested three men in connection with the incident.

I think this pretty much militates against any more rallies in SA for the foreseeable future; this should also make people stop talking about Kenya being dangerous don't you think?
