9 from me. It was like four different races all stacked on top of each other!
It must be the best atmosphere of any Grand Prix of the year. What a fabulous track. |

I missed last year's race and so was looking forward to this year's and it didn't disappoint. I particularly enjoyed Verstappen's overtake round the outside of Tarzan Bend, reminded me of Andretti v Hunt in '77.

I don't share your enthousiasm.
The VSC and the safety car ruined what could have been an interesting finish. And .. drive through the pitlane? Why? For a single car (still in 1 piece) stranded on the track. That is just begging for accidents and/or unsafe release issues. Some cars stopping and others going straight on makes it unpredictable for drivers and teams. Very bad call IMO |

6 from me. It was tactically interesting but never really came alive like other, better races have done this year.

5. Dull for large periods. Spiced up towards the end thanks to the way that events transpired. The Bottas and Tsunoda incidents actually robbed us of a potentially good race for the lead - albeit I couldn't see Verstappen losing it even if the Mecs managed to get ahead on the Hard tyre. Rollercoaster track is great in some ways, but lacking any exciting non-DRS overtakes.

And yet the track is visually very appealing. I still wish it was the old track though.... 6. |

Despite the issues, the drive through the pitlane was the right decision. Valtteri's car had to be moved from the inside to the outside and with such a short lap the window for crossing would have been small or even non-existent. Perhaps the race director should have made up another rule on the fly and said "no pitstops" while the safety car train is using the pitlane. |

7. Better racing than we got at Spa.

6 this week, some good stuff but also somte very poor bits, the red cars again let themselves down and the red bull junior team gave an equally poor display.

I think this track looks really good, and I imagine it's a hoot to drive, but it really isn't great for racing. So, very processional apart from a few noble attempts.
I also found Checo's standard complaint almost funny. I think we knew from last week, if nothing else, that Max would win. I do think we was robbed of some satisfaction of seeing the strategies play out with the nonsense from Alpha Tauri. That dropped my enthusiasm a lot. I gave it a 6. |

7, and that was probably being kind. I was really looking forward to a more competitive race but it didn't happen. They really must do something to get stricken vehicles off track more quickly. It makes F1 look very amateur. Or perhaps they realise it's only these interludes and the pathetic DRS that make changes in position even remotely possible.

It must be a great track to drive but as a F1 race circuit it's poor.
Both Merc and RB believe Max would have won on a two stop but the VSC and then SC killed off any chance of the strategy playing out. 4 |
