AMRS Returns to Winton....
AMRS
Mar 28 2005 AUSTRALIAN MOTOR RACING SERIES - ON THE WAY TO WINTON The Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS) has successfully added another round of it’s newly formed series to the already jammed packed 2005 calendar by incorporating with Winton Motor Raceway and its signed Australian Truck Nationals on the 30th April – 1st May 2005. In doing so the AMRS has expanded its repertoire of categories by signing four new categories to selected rounds throughout the 2005 National series which opens up the popular rural Victorian track to drivers not seen there for some time. Porsche 944 Challenge, Improved Production Racing Association Victoria, Sports/GT Intermarque Challenge and Formula Vee will provide support to the opening round of the Australian Truck Nationals by supplying excellent fields and exciting racing enjoying the exposure that only a National series can provide. The AMRS mission statement is simple: To facilitate, organise and promote National Motor Racing events to the highest standard with the welfare and investment of all competitors, event promoters and spectators in mind at all times, and by combining with the trucks at Winton we believe we have done this. The team at Winton have worked with the AMRS to make sure the meeting will be a success for all and for those spectators who have never seen truck racing – it must be seen to be believed. With three National meetings in six weeks, this is no doubt the busiest time for the AMRS and we welcome all interested spectators, officials and competitors to log onto Winton Motor Raceway’s website at www.wintonraceway.com.au or the AMRS website www.amrs.net.au for more information about the Winton round and the entire season. ENTIRE 2005 AMRS SCHEDULED: The 2005 Australian Motor Racing Series schedule as at 24th March 2005 is as follows: RD 1 26–27 February Wakefield Park www.wakefieldpark.com RD 2 16–17 April Mallala www.mallala.com RD 3 30-April-1-May Winton www.wintonraceway.com.au RD 4 21–22 May Phillip Island www.piarc.com.au RD 5 2–3 July Queensland Raceway www.queenslandraceway.com.au RD 6 23–24 July Eastern Creek Raceway www.eastern-creek-raceway.com RD 7 20–21 August Phillip Island www.piarc.com.au RD 8 17–18 September Oran Park www.oranpark.com RD 9 12–13 November Wakefield Park www.wakefieldpark.com RD 10 3–4 December Eastern Creek Raceway www.eastern-creek-raceway.com An interesting press release.... well what is most interesting is that none of the existing AMRS categories seem to be going to to this round! The schedule in the release announces that the Truck National Series will be running (where the Winton had already scheduled them for that date) - and then they have bolstered the meeting by adding Porsche 944, Victorian Improved Production, Sports/GT Intermarque Challenge and Formula Vee, which I thought were all part of the state series anyway. No mention of the Touring Car Challenge, or F4000, or F3... and these are supposed to be the headline acts of the AMRS series... All that seems to have changed is that a regular state meeting at Winton has now been rebranded AMRS without any other changes.... |

I think that the Sports/GT Intermarque Challenge was going to be the GT Series run by Porsche Drivers Challenge.

Is Winton trying to come in from the cold?

I am sure Winton and Calder would love to spend their time running motorsport events than spending their time involved in politics, it is a pity that others don't think the same
