Lap 3 tribute
I hope we've seen the last of the lap 3 silent treatment and bandwagon jumpin' 3 fingers in the air. If there is a pause this Sunday on lap 3, I'll have to start turning on the race 20 minutes after start time. I'm already waiting 15 minutes to get pass all the "I tell ya' what","we're going to try...","and fixin' ta'" jargon.
When will this funeral end? |

NBC says they will be doing it for the entire time they show NASCAR races, and you do know they are one year into a 5 year contract. So ya better get used to it.
And NASCAW stawted out as a Suthin spowrt, and it is still dominated by Suthiners. So if ya'll gonna watch NASCAW, ya betta git used to the way we talks too. I tell ya wot. |

It's a tribute to all
If you watch, the lap 3 tribute on TV is for all fallin hero's,according to the logo they display and I think that's great. As far as the fans, I'm sure the three fingers/lap 3 deal will go on forever. I let you know when I give my full report after the NAPA 500 at CA SPDWY.

"American By Choice, Southern By The Grace Of GOD" And yes, "The North Coast" is above San Francisco. Some people say it covers all the area between there and the Oregon State Line. It is also known as "The Redwood Coast", and in places, "The Lost Coast" too. Other people say it is just Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Isn't it funny how people have applied the terms North and South to the coast? Los Angeles is considered to be "South Coast", even though San Diego is 100 miles father south than LA is, and SF is considered "North Coast", even though there is another nearly 400 miles of coast north of SF, which is barely 2\3 of the way from San Diego to the Oregon State Line. That sounds more like "Central Coast" to me. I noticed you use that term too. What do you call the Central Coast? |

Actually, I'm reminded of the newly discovered patriotic citizens that mean well, but display flags improperly. I don't brow beat them because this phase will pass for them in time. The true patriots will continue on. I may have to wait 5 years to miss what I refer to as "the funeral services", but by then, it may have lost it's luster and not matter anyway. Meanwhile, those of you that get some satisfaction, understanding, or whatever out of the lap 3 tribute will need to overlook, ignore, and hopefully tolerate party poopers like me. |

Three fingers will go up on lap three for MANY years. As for the silence part- THAT'S up to you if you want to play honor to DE & other fallen hero's of 2001.
Go ahead & tune in 15 minutes later so that you don't have to hear or see it. Let those of us who APPRECIATED all that DE did for racing have our time to pay respect to him & to the others who died in 2001. As for the southern drawl thing- Well I am a Northerner---You just have to deal. It IS a southern sport after all. Pay less attention to the drawl & more attention to the content of their words. They are hugely informative. |

What is considered the Central coast is a very small area. Solvang, Santa Maria, Pismo Beach to Morro Bay. San Luis Obispo. No 20 lane freeways. Just good ole US 101. No smog. Ocean and mountains. That's why it's the "Beautiful Central Coast". |
