GT1 Cars currently redundant & 'raceable'?
Thought has regularly crossed my mind recently particularly after such a stonking opening round at Silverstone. Whilst there's a healthy enough GT1 field, there must be a great number of cars sitting around doing nothing that could possibly be 'encouraged' into the series?
Presumably SRO knows where they all are and why they aren't entered but other than the handful of cars we know are doing LMS series: 1/ What's happening with the Playteam and 2nd JMB MC12's? 2/ How many Aston DBR9's are doing nothing ans who owns them? 3/ What's happened to the Russian Age 550 and Kessel 575? 4/ Are there any more decent Saleens for front running or Citation Cup? 5/ Lambo Murcialago's? 6/ Corvette's? And what about that K'segg that was supposed to be coming out? |

All of the Prodrive F550's are still owned by Care Racing I think. They were only ever rented out to teams.

All C6R's are currently racing, should be plenty of C5R's tho.
The Lambos are too slow for the expensive price, if they can whine at FIA and get some more speed somehow (about 3-4 sec a lap) there would probably be a few more out there, but until then we'll have to do with the 2 currently racing. The K'segg never got homoligated as Zakspeed was supposed to run and develope them but they ran into finacial problems at the same time and the project stoped. In my opnion SRO is doing quite a lousy job on the Citation Cup that was supposed to draw out those older cars to the track, but it's still very expensive and they are not happy with the tyres, as far as I've heard, they are stone hard and twitchy, or something. |

I agree, surely it should be made as attractive and easy as possible for people to enter older/obsolete cars in the Citation Cup?
Hadn't realised all the C6R's were racing, that's quite a feat. Lambo would make a good Citation entry for some (very) wealthy amateurs? |

Phoenix have at least one DBR9, and in theory BMS have 2 somehwere.
How many Lambos are there actually out there? Did Peka sell their C5 in the end? |

Continuing the Lambo chassies:
010 built in 2006 last years Reiter FIA-GT car 011 built in 2006 and crashed at LeMans last year 012 is the one racing in LMS this year. So that makes it 12 cars, albeit one very damaged. |

Drastic action is needed for 2009, in the ACO series at least.
Teams have the option of using their poweplants in a LMP1 chassis, alternatively there should be an option to run a GT1 car in GT2, with smaller restrictors and ballast, just like LMP's were grandfathered. |

I'm sure they made 4 for 2007 so they had 2 spare for sale. and made another 2 for 2008. I count 10 cars. The one on display is the C5-R chassis with C6-R body. The presentation model in 2005.

As for GT1 cars out there - one C5-R from last year's FIA GT I'm happy to say is going to Sweden to be raced in Nordic Supercar by the Stanley Dickens/Race Investments team. Not that I know why as they weren't going to let GT1 cars race, but in any case it will be awesome. |

Sam, GT1 cars dull?
You cannot be serious man? The look and sound of these beasts would be enough even if the racing wasn't very good...... But it is! Jimmy M's spot on with what he would prefer for any future 'GT1' Big cars, big engines, cars moving about a bit, hmmm not far removed from what we have now!! |

I think you just need to combine GT1 and GT2 into a class which runs on GT2 rukles but with a bit more aero and more open restrictors. Think GT1.5
