Howard Marsden Statement

Howard Marsden's family today confirmed that he has been battling cancer for the past seven months.

Mr Marsden will now not be returning to work as a consultant with Ford on its motorsport program.

Howard has expressed thanks to his many friends and colleagues in the motoring and motorsport industries for their tremendous support and friendship over many years, and asked that they respect the family's privacy at this difficult time.

Marsden is the 'father' of Ford's current motor racing success with its BA Falcon, and was equally well known as the mastermind of the company's track successes in the '70s.

He has enjoyed enormous success globally including with Nissan in sports, touring and rally cars.

Messages and well wishes for Howard can be left on his email and phone number at Ford.

No other statement or comment will be issued at this time.

Issued on behalf of the Marsden family

What a great loss to aussie MS and Ford. Condolences to his family. I was reading a tribute by John Bowe and was thinking Ford and FPV should issue a special edition GT called the Marsden ( or something similiar) as a tribute to his outstanding contribution to Ford over the last 30 odd years.

I think you will find it was Toyota that had the marvelous piece of badge engineering known as the 'Lexcen'. Others will know it as the VN Commodore.

Yep, I own a VS Lexcen.
Same as Holden Apollo (Camry) & Nova (Corolla).
