Liuzzi next World Champ??

Could Vitantonio Liuzzi be the next rising star of Formula 1?? He isnt in the best team but has shown plenty of ability today to prove to me that he s good enough to mix it with the best and not been in the most competitive car.

I have heard from a secret source that Vitantonio could be driving for Mclaren next year instead of Fernando Alonso... Does anyone know if this is true??

He has potential. Clearly not the 'next' world champion, but in the fullness of time he has a chance. There are many other good drivers out there too.

His move on Michael was good and decisive. I liked it.

The fact he has won the F3000 series shows he has potential, but then is it great to win the feeder series to F1, no champion (since Euro F2 started in 1967) has gone on to take the drivers title.

Bluewolf has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Liuzzi was running slower than speed in the prior race before scott had mechanical difficulities -- As far as Australia -- He showed some speed but it doesn't count cause he threw his car off the track. But as far as the Mclaren rumor goes -- Why would Ron Dennis even think about Liuzzi when he could probably get Rosberg.

Possibly, but I think it'd be highly unlikely.

Perhaps in the mid-long term.

Liuzzi will probably bag a couple of race wins at some point in his career but I can't see him ever being world champion. Besides, I expect Red Bull have Scott Speed penciled in as the guy who will get the legup to the RBR team first.

Actually not, F3000 went in a fase of completely decadency over the last few years until Gp2 was created, IMO, he just won that championship because he was driving for Arden (the best team on the grid by far), and in F3 he wasn't anything special either.

Personally, i don't see in him the same potential that Red Bull sees. Just because he beated Schumacher in some kart championship it doesn't mean that he'll be F1 champ.

jeez, overtake 1 slow ex-WC, and suddenly you become a candidate for a future title.
Klien will become WC before Liuzzi takes a win, and that's unlikely at best

No, I don't think so. There are guys like Webber, Klien, Rosberg, Button and maybe a couple of others who are much more likely to be world champions, before you even get to Liuzzi.

The best drivers generally don't win the second-tier championship because they've already been noticed by the big teams and are on their way straight into F1. Alonso only needed on 'learning year' in F3000 to get his chance in F1, and guys like Senna, Mika, Kimi and Michael all leap-frogged it completely.

Liuzzi has hardly done any impressive laps in F1 so far; the pace he had today was down to this being a good circuit for the V10s due to the reliance on torque and acceleration. As mentioned, Speed was faster for most of the race.

We haven't seen much of Liuzzi really, so it's hard to form an opinion.

Based on last season's four races, he was underwhelming. This season has been more solid and quick, inevitable given his seat stability (and the fact his bed has been delivered).

His move on Michael was brilliant. Schuey gave him the miniscule amount of room, but he wasn't intimidated. Good job.

It was nice that Schuey was hard but sensible as well, rather than barging him onto the grass ala Heidfeld last season in the same place.

For sure, I didn't mean that in a negative way It just spoiled what was otherwise an excellent race for him.

As for Liuzzi being the next champion, that isn't going to happen. However, who knows what the future holds? How many of you thought you saw a future WDC in Alonso back in 2001?

Judging on what I've seen from Liuzzi I can't come to the conclusion how he is a future champion. I personally rate Klein higher and always have done anyways.

Still early to judge, but he looked good (until the crash) yesterday. Rosberg had a subpar race, but he looks to be one to watch as well.

My choice for next new WC is Raikkonen.

I think the next new champion will be Alonsos replacement next year.

Unless he is replaced by MS or JV of course!

Don't know if in a McLaren, but sometimes I though that the next Italian driving for Ferrari could not be Valentino Rossi, but Vitantonio Liuzzi.
Time will tell if this could be more than a word game.

Michael didn't directly barge Nick off the road, he just depleted Nick's array of options...

Seriously, though, if Luizzi can build on Melbourne then we may start to see performances that are something closer to the hype that surrounded him pre-F1.
