Round 1 - 2011 Moto GP World Championship, Qatar
We are a week away from the start of the 2011 season. I'm putting this up a bit early, since we'll have some testing at Qatar to discuss prior to the race itself. It should serve as a nice form preview for the race weekend. We also have an unusual weekend format for this event, with the event being spread out over four days. So far the riders are not thrilled with the idea.
Story Lines So, who can stop Stoner and Pedrosa? Not sure he can stop them, but I think Lorenzo can be on the podium with them. Or could Dovi make it a Repsol Honda podium sweep? Ben Spies possible spoiler, and maybe Super Sic... Outside of that, how bad will the Ducati men embarass themselves? We'll get to see if Suzuki have finally found a way to make the bike work in cooler temps. We also get the Moto 2 crap shoot and the last year of the two stroke. Oh, and at least one racing series can start its year off in the middle east. Game on! |

Casey, Jorge, Pedrosa, Dovi, Spies, Simoncelli, Rossi, Hayden, Elias, RdeP is my top ten prediction championship wise, with possibly Capirossi or Barbera displacing Randy for 10th. Probably be a similar story at the race too.

We are simply going to see the Honda lane reappear since Itoh stopped using fuel injection in 1993.
Lorenzo will win on all the handling tracks and Honda will win on the power tracks It's Rainey, Schwantz and Lawson against Doohan and Gardner, but without the talent and personality!! And Cagiva (Ducati are not quite that bad) If it wasnt for Moto2 and the Brits in 125 I would struggle to get interested about GP this year. Cal is going to be a mirror image of Toseland and the only real interest for me is whether Spies and Simoncelli can be as quick as the boreliens |

Shall be interesting to watch the team-mates battle this year.
Who will get the edge at Repsol Honda? Will Spies take it right up to Lorenzo? Can Hayden be quicker than Rossi? Will Crutchlow make Edwards look fast? |

It's been all Stoner and Pedrosa in testing at Qatar. So nothing new there. Although Lorenzo has been quicker than the outright times have shown. It will take something unusual for the race winner to not be one of those three.

One thing is for sure Cal is going to struggle
I dont believe sadly for him that he is going t6o do any better than Toseland did. When you are in the press saying how good a job Spies did in WSBK and last year its clear he knows exactly what Ben was doing and what kind of spec that Yam was last year. Dont believe the hype from certain people on here that Tech3 Yam last year was nothing special! |

Stoner looks dominate and totally at ease.
Moto 2 is as unpredictable as ever. And I'm loving my motogp.com subscription. |

You must have won the lottery or something J, I know how much that is!!
I had the off season one and it was OK actually, mainly to be able to catchup with old seasons. Vale is closer than I expected, but this is Stoner's track, always has been. |

I'm watching FP2 as I type this. Stoner is so brilliantly quick. Third lap out and he's quicker than yesterday while everyone else just fluffs around. |

Repsol domination in FP3.
Bautista fell hard in Turn 15 and broke his femur. |

Expect to see Hopkins never race in BSB as a result of this! I bet Jack Valentine is happy!
