Infiniti coming to the UK?

Those of you who are US based will definitely know about the Infiniti marque. Also those in far east and maybe Australian markets?

The trade word is, they intend to hit the UK market.

Who is Infiniti? Think of it as Nissan's Lexus.

What's the range? www.infiniti.com

Now, probably because I'm getting old and a sporty luxury/exec saloon that actually works all the time has become appealing to me, I'm quite excited about this prospect. A genuine Lexus competitor, for less £££ than the German marques.

So, what do those who are familiar with them think of Infiniti? And does anyone else in the Uk actually care?!

In the US they are renowned primarily for their exemplary customer service. Otherwise the "I" series is a slightly fancier Maxima with a round ANALOG clock. The "Q" series has no Nissan equivalent in the US. As far as comparing to BMW, the accelleration and roadholding are inferior. The M-B lives in it's own world, unbothered by the need for accelleration and roadholding unless you get the AMG versions. I am the happy owner of a pair of Maxima '95 & '02 GLE (fancy) versions. Previously owned '87, '94 and '97 Maxima.

I had a Maxima a while back - they are in the UK market, but always with a Nissan badge. Still can't quite come to terms with front wheel drive in such a (relatively) big car.

Newer QX/Maximas are an absolute bargain here. Top of the range listed new at something like £29k, you can pick up a mint 3 year old for under £10k, and the rest are nearer £5k! Nothing wrong with them as such, all the right kit, reasonable performance (with the 3.0), but apparently lacking in "character", whatever that is...

Their version of the 350Z is even funkier than the original - lets hope it makes it

Is car leasing as prevalent in the UK as it is here in US? Nissan had a bad (financial) time here a few years ago when the cars turned in at the end of their (36 month) leases did not recover enough money when re-sold. Prices for used ones have never recovered and as a result some really nice cars are available at good prices. '03 Maxima(s) can be had for $20,200 (~£11,283) including taxes, less trade in from other car. See http://www.oanda.com/

1 US Dollar = 0.56038 British Pound
1 British Pound (GBP) = 1.78450 US Dollar (USD)
