Colour's changing?

Here is a question for all you users of photoshop. I have been using it for ages and havent had any problems. But some times when I have edited it and it looks good on my screen (even prints good) when I send it to other computers or put them on the web they seem very dark.
I dont think there is a problem with the calibration of the monitor, but someone did say something about the 'profile' that I am working in. What profile should I work in? What profile does everyone else work in?
Any help would be great.

Emotive Images should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
sRGB is good for screen and web.
