Disintigration!
That looks like a good scoop for F1.com. They seem to have gotten an exclusive from someone in the team. In my experience, when the financial guy jumps ship, it's usually getting close to the end. I wonder if Prost will be able to finish the season. There was talk their assets would be seized in Belguim. Maybe in Italy? When a Director offers $1, things must be really bad.

Prost will only get the old 049 engines with Ferrari (because of their problems)- if they get to next season that is.
With the Mclaren/ Kimi rumours hotting up, Mercedes is apparently going to give Sauber a deal, but of course Ferrari doesn't want that |

Sad for Prost
He should sell it to some carmaker instead of looking for a french link... |

God I hope Prost can sort this out and quickly. With Toyota about to join F1 it would be very sad if we lost Prost, I have been looking forward to a 24 car grid.

That's awful news for Prost. But it does seem that it has stopped people asking him how he feels about TGF "breaking his records".

things can only get better
Prost: The crisis deepens
As financial director leaves Prost it’s rumoured that Pedro Diniz has quit troubled French team’s board of directors. At this moment in time, four-time World Champion Alain Prost must be wondering how much worse it can get. It’s reported that Prost Grand Prix’ financial director Jean-Luc Gripond has quit the troubled outfit at a time when the team’s management is attempting to sort out its budget for the coming season as well as the little matter of paying Ferrari for this season’s engine supply. In addition it’s rumoured that major shareholder, and former F1 star, Pedro Diniz has quit the French team’s board of directors. The Brazilian has a 40% stake in the team but it’s understood that Pedro, along with his father Abilio, wanted total control, something that Prost is never going to agree to. Due to the poor state of the French team’s finances it’s believed Diniz Sr. offered to purchase the remaining 60% of the team – including its debts – for a nominal sum of $1, you can imagine Prost’s reaction. Alain missed the first day of the Belgian GP weekend and it’s now believed that this was because he was involved in negotiations with a number of possible sources of money including a wealthy Arab, now known to be Prince Al Waleed whose other investments include Daewoo, Planet Hollywood and Disneyland Paris. Another name that’s been mentioned is the Delaey family, owners of the international brewing giant Interbrew. To further complicate matters it’s believed that Pedro’s 40% stake is not in the Prost GP parent company but in a subsidiary, news (if true) that will not go down well with Diniz Sr. who made his fortune from supermarkets. How very sad that one of the sport’s greatest drivers should find himself in such an awful mess |
