The STIG should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Race Of Champions

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to visit this year's RoC in Paris? I'd love to do it, but I fancy it will be a touch on the £expensive side.

No rallycrossers but several rally stars - Loeb, McRae, Gronholm for starters - plus lots of well known names from other series - Alesi, Coulthard, Jeff Gordon, Massa, Ekstrom, Kristensen, Sebastien Bourdais, Dan Wheldon.

Stig, it depends on how you get there and how many go. A couple of years ago myself and some friends went to the Andros Trophy at the Stade de France. Five of us in one car, Eurotunnel, petrol and 3 hotel rooms worked out around £100 each, plus tickets on the gate and food. The tunnel and petrol will be the same regardless of how many go so obviously best to go in a small group than on your own.

It certainly will be a cracking event - I'm hoping to take advantage of living over here for a year and therefore remove all travel costs! I always used to watch the highlights when the ROC was in Gran Canaria although I missed the coverage from last year, but I understand that in the Stade de France the atmosphere is fantastic. Anyone know if last year was a complete sell out or not?

You can do it cheaply if London Waterloo or Ashford (Kent) are convenient to you (might be too late now for discount Eurostar, and the event may have sold out!)

Get the Eurostar into Paris Gare du Nord. From there get a Mobilis pass for Zone 1 & 2 and travel North on RER line D or B to Stade de France St. Denis (D) or La Plaine Stade de France (B) (make sure you check the stops the train will make before you board, some don't stop there!)

There's a hotel near the stadium (behind McDonalds) called Hotel Formule 1 (http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhote...he_hotel.shtml) which has rooms for 32eur per night (sleeps up to 3 people)

The only problem this year is the rioting that's going on- I took a wrong turn in the St. Denis district last year trying to get from the RER D station to the stadium, and I didn't feel very safe then! Some areas are like The Bronx!

Its a great event though and I hope the Paris troubles don't spoil it.

Time to bring this back with an update from the SDF - the track looks very nice, same as last year but with a full oval option for the displays. Currently is practice, and a large number of the guys are kissing the walls at certain corners, including Jeff Gordon who didn't just kiss the wall but took it with him...
Tomorrow should be fun at any rate with the Nations Cup, ROC itself and a large number of displays.
I'm hoping that Team GB will do well, but realistically I'd have to put money on one of the French teams doing well. Any other thoughts then for tomorrow?

Thought I'd update this, Loeb won the individual event with team Scandinavia (Ekstrom/Kristensen) winning the nations cup.

Another trophy for Loeb - he's had a great year.
