AJ on the pace at his first weekend at Mexico city on such a challenging circuit.
I tell you that if he has a solid result (podium I hope) that shall certainly have him fired up for next year. |

marcus has qualifying 1 finished yet? Just wondering of the times because last year's pole time of Paul Tracy was 1m 28.842s, I mean they're already faster in 1st practice.

AJ's sponsored by Red Bull isn't he?
I wonder if a certain F1 team (currently green, very likely to be blue soon) would see a benefit in getting him in for 2005.... |

Pretty exciting session.
AJ lead the way until of course Sebastien came out and held the lead all the way till the dying laps when Bruno set a very good time to take provisional pole , but Sebastien wasnt done yet he had one more lap. actually he was done , trying a bit to hard he spun the car and didnt get a chance to restart |

Wow Bourdais' P1 time is already 3.5s faster than the pole time for last year. Was the track dampish last year or something? Maybe Bridgestone is using a much more agressive tire?

Marques and Valiante deserve some credit as well, considering their circumstances and their comparative positions on their team-mates. But you're right that it's great to see AJ and Justin up there; the most impressive rookies of the season by far.

Very interesting. Wouldn't it be great if AJ and Wilson pulled off a non-NH or Forsythe front row? Apparently Bourdais and Vasser were the only ones not to use the option compound.
Regarding my earlier post, I'm an idiot, I was looking at the wrong times. Last edited by Snrub; 6 Nov 2004 at 04:41. |

Valiante is probably glad he isn't last on the grid so far. If Red Bull buys Jaguar and puts AJ in the field next year, they would be totally justified. Raw *******' talent.

I'm pretty sure the second Rocketsports car is something of an afterthought to the team - there's more to Guy Smith than his performances indicate.
Still, it's all valuable mileage if he gets another ChampCar drive next year. |

I'm a little surprised at Smith's lack of speed as well. I imagine that the 2nd car isn't getting as much attention as Tag's car is, but Gidley did seem to be able to put it on the pace. I would think that Smith should be able to make some progress, none however is evident. I would like to hear his thoughts on his first taste of Champ Cars.
As for the rest, it definitely looks like Bruno's not going down without a fight. I do think there will be a lot of driver's looking to go out on a high however. It will be interesting to see how Bourdais manages his race. This isn't just a Bruno and Seabas show, I expect to see a very aggressive PT. As for Almendinger, let's not try to raise to many eyebrows please. I would like to see him stay in Champ Car for a few more seasons. I agree with the raw ******* talent sentiment though. |

Michael Valiante is .5 up on Haberfeld in Free Practice 3.
This kid is doing a great job. I hope he keeps it up. |
