Was I dreaming - or did MS walk into the Toyota garage?
I know I was up at 5am and I haven't had a look at the re-run, but after MS crashed, didn't he walk back into the Toyota garage?
If I wasn't going bonkers - which I know is possible ... - Why? Did he just want out quickly? - Isn't there intellectual security for all that Toyota kit and computer - not for a Ferrari bod? - Why, didn't the Toyota crew look surprised? - Don't all the Toyota coporate hyper-guests normally sit in a viewing room at the back - fun! - Is he checking out his contract and kit for next year? If I am going bonkers - please delete the thread! |

His retirement meant a lot of cars were coming into the pits and I assume he didn't want to get cleaned up by someone making their pit stop as he made his way back to the Ferrari garage.

He could have been checking when Ralf's contract ends. Or just going through his stuff as brothers have a habit of doing, no matter what age.

Just getting in practice for season 2007
MS did walk thru the garage, they did a feature on the Toyota compound on #10 before the race with Mike Gascoigne... there would have been a bit for MS to see when he walked down the middle section to get to the back of the garages... |

I'm wondering - Ralf finished on the podium, Michael had a bad race. As it's normally the other way round, did they swap bodies?
Would explain why Michael went into Toyota - as it was really Ralf in disguise! |

Maybe he was going to see his agent, Weber works for both Ralf and Michael.

I don't like to take the excitement out of this but drivers walk through and in and out of other garages all the time. These people travel and work together for the majority of the year - they all know each other quite well!!
MS wouldn't have chosen to walk down a live pit lane with cars coming in, for a start this is heavily "discouraged" by the FIA and secondly it's virtually impossible as once the teams are out waiting for their cars you can't walk through on the garage side of the lane and you'd have to be completly barking to take to the outside. What you could see him try to do was go round the Honda kit and go out the other side of the garage back into the pit lane, it was then obvious from the footage and presumably to Michael that this couldn't be done, so he did the sensible thing which was go out of the back of the garage. Am I missing what's exciting about this!? |

dsg and piglet are spot on. Far from being confused as James Allen suggested he thought very clearly. Knowing there was a SC and potential for many pit stops he walked through the Toyota garage to get out the way. Everyone in the Toyota garage realised that he was doing this.

Perhaps he was slightly concused?...I think we've all seen what a black mood he gets into when things go pear-shaped, with helmet on he wasn't up for a chat or to be filmed by anyone really was he!

nah it was common sense. No one walks down a live pitlane unless they have to, he crashed at the top end and i'm relatively sure the Ferrari pit is next to Renault at the bottom end. Was simply the safest thing to do.
