Ascari vs Lola / Reynard

With some teams continuing to run Lola B98 / B2K ( Taurus + Berridge )and Reynard 2KQ / 01Q ( Nasamax + Goddard ) it struck me that neither of these marques ever won a sportscar race of note ( maybe DAMS but i'm not sure ). My point is that the Ascari is sitting in a Garage , never to be used again, and this car has Won in FIASCC and at LeMans 2001 was lying 5th at 01.00am and lapping fastest of all in the wet conditions. Would this car be a better bet ? It finished 2nd at Monza last year and although it looked off the pace at Donnington, that may have been down to the drivers rather than the car. I think it would be great to see the Ascari in LMES next year. Maybe i'm wishing too hard for more prototypes....What do you think ?

Think the DAMS B98/10 won quite a lot in SCC in 1999, Gounon...?

Darn it, i think he did !! However, that was 1999, the B98 was fairly new and raced against shallow opposition. The Ascari on the other hand was still competitive in 2003, so still i think it would be a better bet. Its a lovely looking car and it would be a shame if it just rusted in a garage.

It's a shame the owner prefers racing in old-F1 cars.

Difference: These cars aren't racing because lack of money, the owner of Ascari has enough money to race.

Rafanelli would have certainly won the ALMS race at Silverstone in 2000??? if it hadn't have problems early in the race, they got the fastest lap and i think the pole, which they also got at a couple of other races.
