Mungrels!!

I have always firmly believed that you should not trust anything with one. And helmets and other racing gear that a driver strongly relys on should be taken with them. Not left in some case or something that could be easily nicked or fobbed off.

It just goes to show that some Australians arent as honest as people think they are.

Didn't someone in the land of the great white cloud steal John Bowes helmet in 04/05??

Someone's getting a nice little collection of helmets!

Interesting note in the mentioned story, I was under the thought that FPR left from Brisbane, not Avalon.

Fig Jam I am surprised there is 2 helmets around that would fit his big head

Very well said Fig Jam

hahaha special comms gear in the helmet....

Reminds me about the saga a couple of years ago when all the development series drivers turned up at The Clipsal to find out all their helmets were suddenly no good. Someone in Adelaide made a lot of money selling a truck load of plain white helmets.....and yeah.....an all nighter for the radio contractor to fit the two-way gear.

Still .....mOngrels..........

But would it really be an issue if a driver had to read a pit board and look at the flag marshals to know what was going on?

mOngrels....

Don't they sell crash helmets in NZ? Why would Murph need to fly a spare in? A press beat up that I wont fall for.......

A good opportunity for a helmet maker to get some exposure methinks. The $9000 for two helmets is chicken feed compared to the publicity the company would get in Australasia.

It's not the best way to start a weekend, but there's nothing wrong with having to wear a plain white helmet for the weekend....

One of our greats wore white.

But I understand how the loss could really annoy him. Some drivers like collecting and displaying their lids.

Sure is.....

The lids go right back.

So you can understand why a driver might be annoyed.

It's more than just the expense of having someone else go out and buy you a new lid for the weekend.

Interesting to note to that the helmet second from the right on the third row down has both HSV and FPV stickers...

Wow Chatters, you should be a proof reader. Maybe he had surplus visors and put a more current visor onto an old helmet - during the "transition" phase?
