Driver names

There are some pretty weird, odd and awful names some drivers have got. Theres an Austrailian F3 driver called "Will Power" but the worst name ever, has to be "Dick Trickle" I feel so sorry for him, having that name. What were his parents thinking? what strange names have you come across?

I believe there was a Dick Ward who raced an RX7 in West Australia. I wonder what happens in that part of the hospital.

Yeah, Dick Ward is still racing- he built an awful lot of RX7s in his time (series 5?).

We also have Dugal McDougall, and Rufus Pullar...

Don't forget that you can use an alias on your licence, so you can race under any name!

I might go for "Eddie Irvine" next year, as I've spent most of my time sitting at the side of the track watching after DNF's!

May I present, from the Aston Martin club racing scene:

DBS racer Boysie Thurtle
DB5 racer Thornton Mustard

And I'm sure it's perfectly run-of-the-mill in his native land, but I was always amused by international Touring Car racer Clemens Schickentanz.

I enjoyed watching Dennis Firestone race Scott Goodyear at Indy. Too bad David Dunlop never made it.

who races a Porsche, as does his son Jamie and interestingly his wife Dot used to have a go too.... Dot Maserati, in a Porsche - quality!

Does anyone know if Thornton Mustards still raceing? I used to mechanic him in his Ferrari and F3 days, a quality bloke and pretty quick for a man in his 50's (as he was then).

Ghinzani - yes Mr Mustard is still out there and racing fairly regularly (at least at the AMOC meetings) - don't remember who's running him these days, will let you know if I happen to find out and if nobody else has already posted.

Willie Dick, an Alfa Romeo driver. Lake Speed used to race Karts before turning to Nascar (my brother races against him once in Hong Kong).
