Audi R8s
Anyone know how many cars have been built in total since 99? Also the 'privateers' running them this year, how old are the cars, or are they new this year?
I ask 'cos at their present rate they'll be catching up with the 956/962 family as regards major sportscar wins soon. |

As I worked out last week the R8 has so far won 46 of its 53 starts which means it has won 88% of the races it has started. I am not sure how many races the 962/56 won, but someone will be able to tell use.
Now I am not sure how many chassis have been built though. |

It's not hard to find out, but it's tedious. The chassis numbers for the R8 (not R8R, which was the '99 car) have been numbered 400, 500 and 600. I'm pretty sure there are six current chassis. 601 through 606. And that the 500 series numbers are about the same. I'd guess maybe around 18 chassis, but there could be a few more, or less. I'll check it out and if nobody else has answered the question I'll post it later today.

Well the three works cars that won Le Mans are tucked away in the Audi Musuem I would imaging. There are 5 cars racing at present and 6 if you included the 2nd Champion Car. I also understand that Goh have a 2nd car tucked away somewhere and what became of the Champion car which was last seen on e-bay, that makes at least 11 cars.
One car was sadly lost in the accident that took the life of Michele Alboreto. As for the rest I am not sure I would think the Audi Sport and Joset must have a couple. Also what became of the car that Audi UK used at Le Mans in 2003 last I heard it was at Beaulieu but having just checked there website it doesn't seem to be there anymore |
