Rallycross Rain / High Vis lights
Been thinking about this today. How useful do people think they are?
At knockhill in the rain this year, when you would think that they are supposed to be at their most useful, I couldnt see the light of anyone in front. Same thing at Blyton, couldn't see the light on the car in front that I was stuck to the bumper of because it was so dusty! When i've been racing in europe this year the scruiteneers have asked why I have three break lights, because nobody over there uses any sort of high vis light. I'm not suggesting we get rid of them, but in the extreme conditions which are intended for they make little difference. |

I think they are pointless.
Fair enough on F1 cars when there is a lot of spray they do stand out, but in rallycross the spray quite often is more mud than water, and they do not shine through the mud. Also they are absolutely useless in dusty conditions. Finally rallycross cars are quite often very sideways through the corners, so more often than not you are actually looking at the rear side windows than the back one. |
