F1 Grand Prix for the PSP
Is it any good? I was a bit wary of getting it as Studio Liverpool tend to make rubbish F1 games these days, but I see the PSP version was developed by Traveller's Tales.
Is it worth it, or should I just stick with Ridge Racer? |

It's very good. I'm very chuffed with it.
The MP3 playback is excellent, if a touch too quiet. That might just be the encoding though. The screen is superb, very high quality. The graphics in the games are very crisp, very clear. I was a bit suprised by them, didn't think they would be that good! I only have two games at the mo, Ridge Racer as I mentioned above and Metal Gear Acid. Both are quality games. I love my PSP, it makes my lomg breaks at work and the hour long bus to work/college fly past. |

I might get a PSP as well, they do Toca race driver 2!!! But I`ve been told buy someone in the games biz to wait for the PS3. It`s gonna take racing games up a level!!! Fingers crossed for a march 06 release (xmas 06 more like) of the PS3.

My brother got his on Ebay months ago (the PSP I mean). We've nearly completed Wipeout, its definitely worth getting. I guess it's not really the right sort of console for F1 games though, but it might be worth getting anyway.

Thats what I was thinking. The system seems more suited to sports games and pick up and play titles.
Burnout Revenge is out next week and WRC a few weeks later. |

At this point in time, I'd say you'd be better off going for a PSP. With the PS3, it's got so much exotic techology in it that it'll be very expensive when it does launch, be in perishingly short supply and the usual post-launch period lack of good games. Compare that with the PSP's solid software library and the fact it's out now, and I'd say get the PSP. I've had mine since the Japanese launch and between Ridge Racers, Lumines, WipEout Pure and, most recently, Virtua Tennis, I've enjoyed mine more than most handhelds. |

Anyone's guess at the moment - although I'd expect a GT game (spin off or full game) will be arriving around 12-18 months after the console's launch. Polyphony Digital tend to take their time with such things.
I don't think it'd be too much to expect the first games to be a new Ridge Racer, a new Tekken, Virtua Fighter 5, Vitua Tennis 3, a new Sonic game, something from Square Enix and Unreal Tournament 2007 as the main launch titles across all territories, plus whatever region specific titles Sony and their third party mates come up with. That said, I doubt we'll find out much this side of Christmas. |

Is just for Europe only or for the US cus I have yet to see it and there are really not good true racing games for the PSP yet.I do have Need for SPeed but that is a bit on the arcade side.Gran Turismo is being delayed much like 4 was so I dont anticipate a release until 06 sometime.

Just order the game from Europe - PSP games are region free (for now...).

makes sense for them to remain region free surely, what with it being portable surely being able to buy games for it even when you're away on holiday makes good business sense?

Depends on the unit price per game - things like the internet mean that I can order PSP games from Canada or Korea that are anything up to £10 cheaper than the equivilent European release, and often play them weeks before.
Considering handhelds traditionally have poor game sales to installed hardware units ratios, if there are too many people like me importing rather than buying official EU versions, they could start region encoding games as well as movies. |

videogamesplus.ca, and for Korea, I get a mate to order for me. I used to use Play-Asia.com for Asian/Japanese PSP imports, but they've had to stop shipping to Europe of late.

Mmmmm, Burnout Legends. All that Burnout goodness on one dinky little UMD - it's not *quite* as good as Takedown, but it beats Revenge to a bloody pulp. Make sure you all get it.

Yes indeed, it's very very good. Probably the best game out on the PSP at the moment, which is saying something cause theres a few really good ones and more to follow - GTA: Liberty City Stories next month people!
