Indeed Davey, sad reflection on what people want out of karting, ie Internet exposure not a good read.

This is indeed sad news.

Mark Burgess and his team have done a wonderful job in providing karting enthusiasts with an excellent publication.

Sign of the times I feel.

It is guys. Print media is on it's last legs and I feel this is likely to be a portent for similar periodicals, notably Autosport.

Mark and his late dad Alan did an immense amount to get karting off the ground in this country and keep the flame of information lit for such a long time. Their contribution to the sport here over the years is incalculable.

The cessation of the mag is a sad but inevitable occurrence.

Such a shame. I've been reading it for over 40 years and have always found it such a good read.

I do not and have never read a karting magazine, but I think all involved should be applauded for keeping such a mag going for this long.

I cant imagine it can be easy, and though karting is popular I would imagine it is a hard sell.

When you think of the magazines of yesteryear that have gone by the wayside like CCC, to keep something this specialised going for so long deserves nothing but congratulation.

I am sure those involved will get online maybe and start something, it is the cheaper way, but clearly not as interesting to read or peruse!

I think that a tiny team of them worked very hard to produce that periodical. From her twitter activity, current editor Mary Ann Horley seemed to be literally working 24 x 7... even with a new baby !

They have had an on-line presence for a while now, see here, but I think that a digest of race reports and technical insights are not the kind of thing that today's teenagers [the main exponents of the sport] are interested in. They prefer to get what they need as twitter soundbites, Facebook posts... and occasionally rants on Karting1.co.uk's forum. Nothing bad about any of that... it's just a change of times.

Big change for Mark Burgess - former boss of Karting Magazine.

He is now Practice Manager for a GP practice in London's Kings Road.

I think he would be superb after all his year's experience running the family business.

A great shame,I seem to recall it was published in Chistlehurst.
They fought off the challenge from Kart and Superkart when I was racing and now they have closed the doors.
As an aside I bumped into the Chris Lambden, Editor of K and SK in New Zealand a couple of years, racing his F5000!
Happy Days.

Well the good news is that Mark Burgess managed to secure a buyer for the mag and [so far at least] it's still going, albeit with a new look - see here.

Yes Chris Lambden [former Superkarter himself] is full on with historic F5000 'down under' these days.

Online is fine but being old fashioned, I like a nice magazine to read ...
