It is not going to be pleasant for both driver and spectators, so I will be staying at home watching in aircond comfort.

And hot for the flaggys too. I think we set a record for the amount of water consumed last year. Hot and hard work standing there from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm each day, but no one is forcing us to be there.
But after working at turn 8..... it does not get much better....Great event. |

Having spent the last 2 days in Adelaide, I can tell you the weather is amazingly hot, and humid...
And has been for the last fortnight or so.... If the warmth of today is similar to the Saturday/Sunday racing days.. there will be dehydration issues... bigtime... |

We haven't had any rain of note so the grassed areas of the race track will be a dust bowl by week end!! Thoroughly uncomfortable if the dust is clagged to sweaty skin!! Mike |

I noticed an interesting anomaly on the Foxtel Weather Channel this morning. Looking at the 7 day forecast for the Southern Suburbs, where I live, it listed the expected temperatures for Thur/Fri/Sat as 33,34,33 (roughly). I then checked for Adelaide itself - those days were listed as 2 40's and a 38. I thought that was a bit unusual, as normally the southern suburbs are within about 3 degrees of the city. So I decided to check the northern suburbs (Elizabeth) - that is normally within about 3 degrees of the city as well, but normally hotter if anything. No, for the northern suburbs those days were listed as 35,36,35. That would be about normal for if the south was low 30's as listed, however if these are correct, we would normally expect the city to be somewhere between!
I guess what this tells you, if anything, is that weather forecasting is an imprecise science (god I hope there are no grumpy meteorologists on here!), and that within the next week temperatures and forecasts could end up almost anywhere! |

I can tell you that an email went out today to all teams to expect the hot weather and to bring fans etc and make sure all drivers have cool suits.

The latest updated forecast has the change coming through earlier on the Friday keeping Fridays max to 37, and Saturdays max to 28. Much more enjoyable than first predicted. Hopefully the change isn't late.

Last year Saturday was a killer. I vowed I wouldn't go GA again after wandering round delirious for most of the day. But it's that time of year, just couldn't resist, so I'll be back on the plane again.

Well that's it for the horrible heat, the lightning is flashing the thunder is rumbling and there is a nice cool breeze descending over adelaide.
Thanks goodness for the drivers tomorrow. |
