I don't think I've ever been more relieved to hear Tom Gaymor's voice. Why haven't they got rid of that other commentator yet, he's awful

Cameras just showed Nigel Mansell in the pits with Beechdean Ice Cream sponsorship on the walls behind him... Richardson said something like "I'm sure the ice cream's got nothing to do with him".
Richardson, you know you're out of your depth but at least take a look here and educate yourself: http://www.beechdean.co.uk/ |

Thankfully Richardson has resisted from telling us that Jon Lancaster is a fan of Leeds Utd

Plenty of carnage today in what appeared from the pictures on the box, absolutely awful conditions!
Great drive by Aleshin it must be said, kept cool throughout when almost everyone else didn't! Very impressed by Zampieri's drive too, he held 2nd in spite of one or two off's ahead of Ricciardo who monstered Aleshin early on but fell back gradually. Still he comfortably outpointed Hartley who could only manage 6th, 35 odd seconds behind the winner. Lancaster was 4th and Rosenzweig was 5th I think, I haven't checked the official results. There was a nasty shunt involving Guerrieri IIRC just after at the first restart, can anyone shed anymore light? |

Good to see Aleshin keeping his cool and having a great race. I agree that the commentator is awful. (Although i think Tom Gaymore is quite good)

Aleshin's experience showing there, and so it should.
Just wondering, I know its early in the season, but why has Brendon Hartley become a slow driver and not very good generally? I know he was 6th today and thats ok, but its hardly the performance of an F1 driver. He has been blown out of his own depth by Ricciardo and Vergne even in testing. What happened to his 2007/08 hype? He doesn't even deserve the Red Bull/Toro Rosso drive. His 2009 season was terrible. Glad they switched to Jaime a Grand Prix earlier last year to replace him, otherwise we could have had Brendon in F1. |

I think hes just getting out-shown. I can't see anything slowing him down, hes just not driving fast enough. I mean hes in the same team as Ricciardo, and has done more races than him, and Ricciardo is cleaning him up even when he also missed some pre-season testing due to the broken hand. Hes got to pick up his game defiantly. But time will tell if Brendan can challenge him, at the moment i only see Ricciardo getting faster the more times he does laps in the car.

Just like then. Daniel Ricciardo takes another pole, this time for race 2, and Brendon Hartley is 13th 1.1 off Ricciardo.

I can only guess Hartley's too busy doing his hair. He's been a surprising disappointment to me, really since Alguersuari edged the upper hand in F3. It's all fallen to pieces in WSR really. It's strange that Red Bull dropped Wickens and Bortolotti while keeping hold of Hartley.
Looking back, maybe his FR Eurocup championship win suggested he has more promise than he really does, as by that stage he had plenty of experience in similar cars (in the Toyota Racing Series combined with a full 2006 season's FR NEC & Eurocup); more than chief '07 rivals Lancaster, Pic and Coletti. Saying that though, he did destroy Alguersuari when they were Eurocup team-mates with a similar level of experience. |

worth pointing out that there was a bit of shenanigans last night with regards to the race result - there has been a bulletin issued saying that there was a non conformity on aleshins car but it was a misunderstanding and that there would be a clarification of the rules prior to spa. the bulletin itself is in the noticeboard section of the wsr results site.
the conditions were so rubbish i'd think the only thing that would have helped would have been a hull and a paddle, but without knowing what the issue was i wonder if there was a way around the low downforce rules in wet conditions. |
