Did anyone purchase the game released in the last year or so - Le Mans 24 Hours ?
It has just been released here in Australia as a budget priced game for only $20 and I was just wondering if it was any good just to play for a little while ? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Buck. |

Which version is it? Reviews of the PSOne version were not good, it was pretty much an average run-of-the-mill racing game - I played the demo and decided it wasn't up to much. The Dreamcast version however is supposed to be rather good.

The Dreamcast version is the best racing game available onthe DC. It has the majority of the 99 model LeMans cars along with famous vintage models and the graphics, racing and fun are awesome. It supports 4 players with minimal loss of graphics and zero slow down. All of the tracsk are real, the weather effects are incredible and the long distance events are excellent as well. It has the complete 3.5 minute LeMans circuit with 1 hour, 6 hour and complete 24 hour mode. It also has the following circuits, Donington National, Donington Grand Prix, Suzuka, Suzuka East, Suzuka West, Catalunya National, Catalunya Grand Prix, Brno, LeMans, and Bugatti circuit at LeMans. Cars include several versions of Porsche 911 GT2s, Oreca and Chamberlain Viper GTS, Lister Storm, Agusta, Marcos Manta LM600, Audi R8 LeMans winners, BMW V12 LMR LeMans winner, Panoz Esperante Coupe, Panoz LeMans Roadsters, LaFiliere Nissan LMP, 2 Team Joest Kremer Porsches, Mercedes CLK LM, Ferrari 333SP (disguised as a customer car), Riley & Scott MkIII, Nissan GTP Coupe, Toyota TS010 LeMans contender, and the Audi R8 coupe. Bonus cars include the Peugeot GTP LeMans winner, and Sauber C12 LeMans winner. These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
There will soon be a release of this game for the PS2, and it will have all the cars along with newer versions and the Team Corvettes. It will also include the Mazda R87B LeMans winner. it is marketted under the Test Drive: LeMans banner in the states. it debuted here for US$29.00, about 40% off normal new game price. |

The PSone version is c**p, I tried the 24 hour race and gave up after about 6 hours, as I was leading by 30 laps ! ! ! !, with a fastested lap of about 1 min 40 sec. For a game that is ment to be realicts, it is not.

(Better late than never!). The PC game is absolutely awful. Lots of promise with the cars and so on, but terrible handling and no tunability whatsoever.
Will someone PLEASE bring out a decent sim for Le Mans!!!! |

I downloaded the demo but decided not to buy the full version as it was just awful.
I decided to stick with Sports Car GT. I just downloaded the US Indy GP track for it and have been playing around with that for the last couple of nights. |

SCGT
SCGT really is one of the truly great games. The beauty of it is the huge number of cars, tracks and all sorts of other stuff you can download for it. Earlier this year I was running races with a grid consisting of nothing but McLaren F1s - all different! Fantastic noise! I haven't played it for a while (I'm currently addicted to GP3!), but my 16 year old is constantly thrashing a Bentley EXP around Road Atlanta!

Download Links
Hobson - as promised - try some of these:-
http://www.195.188.200.200/v2/resources.asp? If that doesn't get you to the Bentleys, put SCGT and MOFNET into Google and you should find it. Also:- http://discpad.homestead.com This was a fantastic SCGT resource but it seems to be out of action at the moment. Worth checking back though, now and again. These are good too:- http://simracingconnection.virtualav...cgt/links.html http://www.historicscgt.homestead.com/home.html http://people.ne.mediaone.net/mlapp/index.html http://home.freeuk.net/jrknight/scgt/ http://members.home.net/xzibit.a/scgt/ And for GP3 lovers, this is the place to go:- http://www.alphaf1.com/gp3/ Hope these help. (Failing all else, just type SCGT downloads (or GP3 downloads) into Google and you will find all sorts of sites. Don't forget when you get to a site to check out the inevitable links page as well!) |

Well done! There are literally hundreds of cars out there for download for SCGT. It's almost a case of - if someone has raced it, someone will have modelled it for SCGT. You want to try some of the big banger CanAm cars - the McLarens are awesome as are some of the Porsche 917s.

I purhcased Le Mans 24 hour today for $2.00 at EB - I am not joking - it really was $2.00. It feels like a two buck game, too...

Well, as far as I'm concerned, it is THE forgotten GREAT game. As it is also available on a budget label as well, my only advice to you is - BUY IT! (Then start browsing the download sites - as a basic game it is OK, with the downloads it is stunning! But always (always) use the cockpit view!!).

Have to agree with you there - it's a good game to start with - but the add ons make it great.
It already has about 18-20 tracks on it but with the amount of different track available for download this would easily exceed 30 tracks in one game. My favourite 2 add on tracks at the moment are the Indy GP track and Australias most Holy Mountain where Holden and Ford just held their yearly Jihad - Mount Panorama. Get into it ! |

Has anyone made the full Le Mans circuit for the game. And when i get the downloads, is it easy to add them to the game. (eg, as easy to load the cars, carsets and tracks as GP2)

Loading the tracks can be a bit tricky when you first start. You need to carefully read the readme files included with the zips. Once you've done one or two, it becomes second nature. There's also a lot of editing programmes available for download as well which make the process easier. You just need a little bit of patience, that's all. (You want to look out for one or two of the fictional tracks - there's one awesome one with incredibly long straights - trouble is I can't remember what it's called!!).
As far as I know, there is only a beta version of the full Le Mans track - and it is VERY much a beta version! (So beta that you can barely recognise it! I downloaded it and gave up). What you do need to remember with some of the downloaded tracks and cars is that some of them have what the experts term high poly-counts, which means that you need more processing or graphics power to cope with them than the standard cars and tracks which some with the game. My system has struggled on occasion with grids full of the downloaded cars and certain of the tracks. By the way, I saw SCGT being sold today in Virgin for £6.99 - that is an absolute steal!! By the way #2, I think I have said this before - if you are after a full Le Mans track, get yourself a copy of GPL and download the 1967 version of the Le Mans circuit. Granted you can't drive sportscars round it in the game (which is, I accept, a bit of a shame), but once you've driven a '76 Ferrari or Lotus down the full chicane-less Mulsanne, you will definitely have a very big smile on your face. |
