Maldonado 'chop' on Perez
Near the end of FP3 Pastor appeared to chop Perez on the approach to the tunnel entry.
Just wondered who saw and what your thoughts were. On PlanetF1's forum there is already a massive thread about this and almost everyone wants Maldonado to receive a ban (some even permanent). Anyone think it could've been accidental? Herbert, Brundle and Hill think it was deliberate. If so, whatsort of punishment can be expected? |

Should get at least a race ban for that. Same applies to the MSC incident.
Just a 10 place penalty received. Considering hamiltons dsq last week that seems like a slap on the wrist at most. |

Over on autosport forums, some people seem to think it was either a mistake or EVEN Perez's fault!

Punishments received should be comparable across different infractions.
Plus it is completely deliberate. |

I think he just oversteered, slid wide and then clipped Perez, no deliberate intention.

Oh no he defo turned in a bit early. Had something happened earlier round the lap?
Mind you if he was trying to mess with Checo's head it worked. |

He's probably going to have to change his gearbox now. Does that make you all any happier?
Hamilton's penalty was McLaren's penalty. You break the technical regulations and you can be disqualified (think Button and BAR). It doesn't go to the stewards to decide the penalty because it's a straight forward infringement of the technical regulations. Maldonado, on the other hand, wasn't breaking any technical regulations - just his own car along with other drivers cars. |

As for the severity of the penalties, take that up with Charlie, The FIA and the stewards. |

I said last year he shouldn't have raced after Belgium and if it had been the case maybe he'd have learned. Seriosly underpunished again. Welcome back in Germany mate?

I seem to remember Eddie Irvine getting a 3 race ban for running into somebody early in his F1 career, would such a ban be more appropriate in Maldonado's case?

Has Maldonado publically apologised? Did he have motive for cutting Perez off like that?
If he hasn't apologised then it must have been deliberate, and it's even worse now that it caused Perez to crash into the wall in q1. By deliberate I mean he probably wanted to give Perez a heall of a fright, but maybe just miss him, or maybe just clip the front wing. But he miss-timed it completely. If he really did bang wheels intentionally, then I'd say he should be at the back of the grid. MSC was just a racing error, he shouldn't be dropping 5 spots for it. |

The guy behaved like a tosshead again. Hamilton sent to the back of the grid in Spain, Maldonado only ten places in Monaco. Fine rulemaking there.
Oh noo. In fact, he's criticised the stewards' inconsistent handling of penalties! I suppose being Chavez's mate may have brought him megalomaniac qualities. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/99916 |

There are rules for technical infringements and rules for driver infringements. McLaren were the 'tossheads' two weeks ago. It's a TEAM sport, after all.

McLaren were silly, but when I say tosshead I say a driver who is reckless and risks injuring others unneccesarily, the kind of driver who would for instance break a marshall's legs. Hopefully he will be suitably punished tomorrow with a poor race in the midfield.

I have said it once and I will say it again, Pastor Maldonado is a dirty driver and for his actions today should not race in Monaco..
