Flavio & Ferrari
This is entirely off the top of my head...so go ahead and rip me apart
Flav is being very odd about committing to Renault. Maybe he's just worrying them a bit to get them to agree to his terms... However, what odds for Flav to Ferrari? Ferrari need a new figurehead after Jean Todt has less of a role in F1, and Ross Brawn and co are planning on retiring soon. Ferrari can offer more money than Renault (which would surely appeal to Flav!) and they probably wouldn't mind an Italian in the job. Could Flav be stalling Renault to discuss a contract with Ferrari? Fire away... |

Flav is probably hoping the Renault bosses are thinking the same so he gets a big (ger) paycheck - in reality I don't think it's likely though.

The idea is not stupid it's just that I doubt anyone cares....
Now what would make sense is for Alonso to take Flavio with him to Mclaren.. That's what Schumi did when he moved from what was then Beneton... Keep and build on a winning partnership .. |

I bet Ron Dennis would be thrilled to take the entire package...
Sorry, I can't see any team taking Briatore. Neither him leaving Renault, unless fired. Wouldn't be a first actually.. |

I dont even know what Renault do with him.
He just seems to be a *sometimes* good luck charm, nothing more. |

I don't see that happening, Flav would not fit in with Ferrari. If he ever leaves Renault it would be to retire and spend his days with gorgeous woman somewhere on a yacht.

The F1 circus is a crazy place. I have spent some time there myself. Flavio is a brilliant worker and is the man who put Renault back on the map. Their development was exclusively around his instructions, and this was even written in his contract. Flavio at Ferrari? Its a difficult place to work, but mabey one day he will find his way there. Im sure Ayrton was going to finish his career there if it was to continue. There is only backwards after Ferrari, so thats where we work before we want to retire.

I 2nd that! Flav has been THE key behind Renaults rise. He did it in 94 and now again the only teamboss to steal championships from the big teams like Ferrari and Mclaren. With a budget les than half of what Mclaren uses. With a heart for the sport and the fans. Has said several times F1 needs to be more open for the fans and the public. Doesnt know anything about cars but has given Benetton and Renault one of the longest running major sponsorpackages in f1 history with Mild Seven. Avid promoter of cost-cutting.
All in all a manager you wont find another one like that easy. And, like DC, has a huge list of pretty girlfriends...even at relatively old age. The man is a hero and for that i dont think he will ever go to ferrari or mclaren. |

Flavio has a unique style that happens to be bloody successful. My admiration for him knows no end.
The key is, he keeps his team simple and allocates tasks to the corect personnel. It sounds simple, but it isn't immediately obvious to most team bosses. For example, Ron Dennis employs massive multi-layer, billion-branched responsibility trees that are somewhat hit and miss. Flav seems to get it just right in terms of number of employees and roles. |

I'll tell you the real reason why Ron wouldn't have Flav in his team - have you seen the sweat from Flav's armpits come the end of the race? - Ron would never allow one of his team member's shirts to get like that |

He is a tad dodgy, but bloody good at his job.
I could see him moving to take over from a retiring Ron as the sporting head of a Mercedes F1 team. He certainly won't be at Mclaren when Ron is there...they do the same job... |

Luck has had nothing to do with the success of the teams Flavio has managed.
