I think that's a bit of an urban myth. The Autosport show works on a pretty simple system, unless your surname is Clarkson, Ecclestone or Button - you've gotta pay to get in!

From the latest BRSCC newsletter:

AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL - NEC 12th - 14th JANUARY 2006

Unfortunately the website address in the piece about Autosport International in the last e-newsletter was incorrect. The correct web address is www.autosportinternational.com To register for your free BRSCC ticket all you need to do is log onto the Trade section of the website and keep clicking on Trade Registration until the page with the BRSCC option appears. Simply complete your membership number and your ticket will be dispatched to you in advance of the show.

Included in the BRSCC members package is a Trade Guide, worth £6. In celebration of Autosport Internationals 100 Years of Grand Prix Racing feature, presented by the Donington Grand Prix Collection, members will also get £7 off entry to the museum located at Donington Park. Grand Prix Racewear, the motorsport safety equipment and performance parts & accessories supplier, are also providing a massive 12% off all orders placed with them during the course of the show. This amazing offer is valid to all pre-registered visitors, including BRSCC members.

Many thanks for that Ian.

Don't forget the BMMC will also have a stand at the NEC so please pop along and say hello. Chris Hobson and myself will be there, along with several other members to help with any queries you may have. It would be good to put some faces to names as well!

I've booked me ticket for the Friday. This is my first Birmingham show. The lure of Mr Ecclestone talking on safety! It might be quite a short lecture!

I should clarify, the bit which I think is an urban myth was the bit about an MSA licence getting you any discount.

Oh, and AFAIK, the BRSCC free ticket is for fully paid up members - just proving you go marshalling at Combe isn't going to cut it.

Although I do agree with the sentiment that marshalling for the sport should give you some kind of perk when it comes to their annual showcase.

When you go through the palava of registering for your free BRSCC ticket, you get a choice of BRSCC member or Official or Marshal. You have to quote your MSA number. Looks like it isn't an urban myth after all! Maybe Bernie's paying for us to get in! Maybe not...

Nope, doesn't seem to let me do it, I get an error everytime when I click on submit, looks like we'll have to pay if we want to go, a bit wrong if you ask me.

I think you'll find having an MSA licence entitles you to be able to get in on the trade days, when things are slightly calmer.

I am going for the first time to the show on the Thursday. Heard there are good deals on marshals gear at the show, is this right? do you need to produce your marshal ID to get discounts?
