Dov should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Why the Canary Fund?!

From the mercurynews.com:

How does a non-profit dedicated to improving cancer detection end up paving San Jose's streets for a car race? For Don Listwin, it's part of a marketing strategy, a way to grab the attention of wealthy tech industry donors.

This is a very innovative idea, and I support it wholeheartedly.

Great to see motor-racing being used in such a positive way.

Inovative? I'm not so sure.

CCWS (KK) donates 1 million to the Canary Fund, (I'm sure they get a tax incentive for doing so), and we have to assume that the 1 million will be used/earmarked to promote this race. There are other things about this deal that seem un-natural for a non-profit to be involved. To be honest, I really don't get it.

Basically, the way I see it, the Canary Fund is siimply a 'cover' for CCWS co/self-promoting another street race.

I don't believe for a second that this race will put much, if any at all, money in Canary's pocket. The cost estimates for the work necessary keep going up, and I find it higly unlikey that San Jose council will approve the $650,000 being asked for by 'the promoter' next week.

This one is far from over.

Just to add, before I get slammed here for my statements above...no, I have no proof that CCWS/KK have actually donated to the Canary Fund....and, yes, I am assuming allot here. But I really don't see this working for Canary unless they are being undergirded by an outside source.

innovative, creative... whatever it is, it will bring recognition to the Canary Fund and/or entice huge silicon valley companies to donate to the Canary Fund.

i believe its a good thing, no matter whose pocket the money is coming from.
