V8 SuperTourers Round 3 - Pics/Results/Rumour

For the love of Allah, please be nice and behave.

Anyway, round three this weekend as we know. The category getting a lot of exposure - just saw it on 7 Sharp via a McLaughlin piece, and it appears it'll also come up on Prime possibly (Josh Kronfeld does the odd bit-part on CGW, doesn't he? He was in the Gizmobile today). Look out for McLaughlin popping up on 'Sunday' at some stage too.

A selection of characters went down to Pukekohe Highschool in the afternoon - including man-of-the-hour McLaughlin, Gaunt/Waite, Kofoed/Farrier, "local hero" Paul Manuell, Huggi, and a school of Swifts. These are great little exercises I think. Many free passes handed out to the kids - though I didn't catch what kind of passes they were.

Points deducted from Puke High for the used condom found just chilling on the court-yard. Mmmm, classy.

Walked around today with the camera. It was an interesting - if uneventful day. Interesting things seen/heard:

- International Motorsport dusted off their second car for the day (the one for sale), but only to use for hot-lap duty. Both cars were sporting sponsorship from V8ST themselves, via the latest promotional thingamabob they made public the other day.

- Heard from a solid source that the TV deal with "____" is hardly saving the category any coin - with he-who-must-not-be-named upping the price late in the piece. Word was that making the coverage delayed through whatshisname, the series is only saving a minuscule 15k over their usual price. Bad. Again, this is just what I've heard.

- I got a shock when I saw a spider-cam hovering down the front-straight, and a bunch of guys running around with neat camera rigs and so-on - but alas they were filming some speed-comparison thing. For the main event there will only be a sparse '9' cameras, so I've heard.

Here's a handful of random snaps from the day:

My full set of snaps from today are on the Facebook machine for anyone who wants a peep. It's a nuisance trying to upload pics while capped. Still plenty more to be uploaded tonight before the big day tomorrow.

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...e=3&uploaded=4

So, who's gonna win? Who's gonna lose? Who's gonna....finish somewhere in the middle.

Mods, feel free to slam the hammer of justice on this thread if it gets out of hand.

Some nice pics on the facebook page there HP. Surprised the BOC car hasn't had a livery change, straight red is pretty bland.

Cheers I'm shooting for him this weekend - so I've got to try and make it look interesting. Which should be fun.

To be fair, it was pretty sunny this afternoon Glasses are a drivers' go-to device, their use is an institution.

So much less coverage, delayed and saving stuff all? Either a big cock up or a big shafting there

6 GT cars with more than 10 seconds from first to last and 7 Challenge Cup car with 26 seconds between them. Looks exciting!

$10k for satellite uplink and $35k for osb truck. Not sure of your budget but seems significant to me.

If you read the very first post its said 15k difference for what appears much less coverage so I'm not sure where you are getting 45k from?

Is this round the end of the 2012/13 season the start of the 2013 season or the start of the 2013/14 season?

Member CCC - Why do you even bother posting in threads about the Supertourers? You bring nothing to the conversation and are obviously just trolling. We all get it, you don't like the Supertourers.

Yes, go somewhere else. How'd the Crusaders go last night BTW?

I have two tickets that I bought online for tomorrow, nevertheless was considering not going if weather too awful. But have checked the Metservice modelling and it looks like the worst of the rubbish will have passed by 9am tomorrow, then it's looking pretty good!

As we only have one Super Tourer champ so far, I would have thought that was obvious?

Horrible Weather... Dark, cold, wet.

I did a drive by during Practise 2 and was bloody surprised by the crowd....
The top parking paddock was 3/4 full (paid parking) and there were a healthy enough number lining the streets (free parking)....

The Wife thought the crowd was similar to the last time she went out there, which she seemed to think was "a lovely sunny weekend and a day of racing".... Which would have been a couple of years ago....

I thought it was midway through the 2013 season... Halfway through the year, halfway through the season.... Seems much easier to follow for the casual fan than having a Championship year split over two years (once had a conversation with someone that was convined that someone had won the FF title twice because they were the 2004/05 Champion)
