I will be racing the Alfa GTA in the Historic Saloons - quite a time since I was last out with the HRSR crew, very friendly bunch and good fun to race with.

This weekend is dedicated to dusting off the S type, first outing of the year at Silverstone. Needs a new seat, what a pain, £500+ because it's past its best before date and yet I can have any old seat in the E-type so long as it's period style, and almost certainly what broke my ribs last year. Where is the sense???? Don't answer that, it's been discussed to death before, but honestly......

Colin, are you sure you need a new seat for HSCC in UK? Thought it was only an FIA event requirement..... I asked for clarification (from different organiser, not HSCC) as Escort seat is now out of date. Answer was I am OK in UK but not for their race on mainland Europe.

Hope to see you there, as am coming for Sunday to cheer a few people on! No doubt I'll finish up on the pitwall....

First time out for me this season in the Elva in FJ, somewhat later than planned... So many Juniors (70+) that race has been split into Front-engine and early rear-; and a second race for the later cars.

Testing Friday afternoon.

See you there.

Same for me. I ran my current MGB seat in the Guards Trophy at Donington in March and HRDC at Snett last weekend. I am fitting a FIA approved seat for Spa later this year though.

Colin, you don't need to have an "in date" seat for hrsr/hscc. As long as its in good nick and fixed properly its ok.

Different matter in Euroland though.

I agree seat date only applies in Europe.

Drop by Lotus Cortina number 30 and say hello, Mike.

I see we have 50 cars entered.

This event has some seriously large grids. I believe there's only one race with less than twenty.

The old "National" pits. See all you guys there and we will try to get the rolling start grids all nice and bunched up before the off.

Yup, and meant in jest too. Glad they're using the National pits. Much nicer than the big modern aircraft hangers.

If I understand it correctly, Friday testing is on the contemporary circuit/Vale while Saturday and Sunday racing is on the historic circuit/Vale. Where's the sense in that? Do let me know if I've misunderstood. Best wishes, Robert

Hi Robert, I've had that same email from Silverstone too, it does sound ridiculous, I can only assume that whilst it'll be largely Historics testing, if it isn't exclusively Historic then perhaps they are obliged by circuit licencing to run the modern Vale. If it is exclusively Historics perhaps wroth us talking to HSCC...

Robert,

It is a Silverstone rather than an HSCC day.

My guess is James's suggestion is the likely reason. It will be something to do with track licensing and moderns versus historics.

However just in case Silverstone haven't thought it through I have sent Grahame a mail asking him to question the decision. My judgement is that I don't think we will get it changed but it is worth a punt.
