future champions??
how about this one then....of the drivers who are currently in f1 (i.e this season ahead), who do you think will become wdc?? every new driver who comes into formula 1 is gonna be wdc, however, most don't make it!! to give an example, alex wurz, after overtaking frentzen at brazil and fighting with tgf at monaco (both in 98), alex was gonna be the next big thing.....now, test driver at mclaren!! or fisichella, potential wdc, but if he has a naff car at jordan nobody's gonna sign him..however, if he goes well, jordan will keep him and then he'll (possibly) be too old for another team to be interested!
get my point here??..so of the drivers, who do you honestly think will 1 day make wdc? my choices are:- jpm, kimi, button and possibly sato. |

future
If no one else, I feel JPM is a future champ. I have seen him in a crappy Toyota and he still looked good, when the car was running anyway. As long as he is in a good car, (I do not feel he has to be in the best), I feel he can win. However my personal hopes are that Honda will take a driver to the WDC. When that will happen is another story.

I think JPM is the best hope, Kimi is a possibility id like to see him become wdc cut he may prove in his second season not to be all hes cracked up to be, lets hope not. others id like to see - alonso, fisichella, button, trulli, sato, coulthard, barrichello, heidfeld, massa, mcnish, salo, panis, villeneuve (maybe not), verstappen, bernoldi, irvine, de la rosa, frentzen, enge.
there appears to be a couple of names missing...... |

Ralf, JPM, Raikkonen, Alonso, maybe Sato (but he's an unknown quantity so I can't really say yet) and possibly Heidfeld.

Yes, JPM has proved he can mix it at the top. The others I believe can do it, they just need to prove it.

Of the recent crop of new racers I believe Raikonnen and Montoya have the best chance of becoming WDC. I'd still like Coulthard to come up with the goods to shut his critics up for a while but I think that's patriotic bias shining through there.
Ralf Schumacher could pull it off aswell if he could keep himself under control and stop trying to take the race off track to the politics of the media. In my humble opinion of course. |

Future champs, DC and Button?
I dont think so! Raikonnen has potential to win the title, as does Janno Trulli and Giancarlo Fisicella but it may take them a few more years. In the near future Ralf Schumacher and Juan Montoya have a decent chance to win the title since they have the tools and the team at their disposal to do it. As for Alonso, I suggest we wait and see. He did well last season but lets see how he does in the next few years. |

Of course it depend on been given the tools capable of winning the championship, but with the right tools.
Montoya, perhaps even this year. Kimi, not this season but i'd expect him to establish himself as #1 at Mclaren by Monaco. Sato, (well I would wouldn't I!!) not for a couple of years, but if he keeps developing he has the ability and the mental toughness needed. Pizzonia, only a test driver this year, but he has the speed and the talent, he WILL be the next brasillian world champion. |
