Means nothing. They have no jurisdiction to take any action against him and carefully worded what they said here. This is nothing more that FIA sabre-rattling.

Toothless tiger.... the FIA.
Their jurisdiction was always limited depite the posturing. They have no jurisdiction apart from what they can do to a license holder. That is the same in any sport for any sporting body.... Outside the governance of a competitor or licence holder/ franchisee there is no control.... So Nigel is free to run his life as he pleases... So how much of last years nonsense from the FIA was just hot air and posturing.....? Most of it? |

Well it is only a recommendation, but any team with an ounce of integrity aren't going to touch him with a barge pole until then....if ever.It will be interesting to see how they go about punishing (?) Mike Coughlan.

He's got a new job with Gigawave anyway, making onboard cameras for use in motorsport. Apparently his latest design is a camera which is attached to a driver's foot, allowing TV audiences to see them working the pedals. It's called the Spy Sandal.

I don't know whether to laugh or get the bat...
Even if the FIA can't actually do much to stop Stepney from working in F1, I think Martyn is right - what team would actually give him a job after this? Although I'm curious as to why the recommendation only stands until July 2009...does he become a thoroughly honest chap after that? |

One day, maybe Stepney will spread the same fame as Emil de Hory (the famous imitator and maker of fake paintings of great artists). De Hory's imitations now also are valued by marchands.
Yep, his life deserves a biographic book. That won't have the printings stolen by... (oh lapsus!, ehem) from Ferrari, of course, but a pic of the document in general. |

As stated though - he's not banned from F1 officially, and is working with a team competing in an FIA championship this year anyway.
Thread's poorly titled - should read 'Stepney not working with any F1 team soon and FIA suggest that's a good idea anyway' |

And as for Stepney's version of events...how does he suggest Coughlan got hold of 780 pages of Ferrari information? I don't think he walked into the factory and took it. |

Possibly, just possibly..., Stepney didn't give Coughlan that dossier. Up to now, in the absence of any denial, that's been presumed to be the case. Interesting that the police have been "raiding" the homes of key McLaren personnel of late. What if the source of the dossier, and indeed it's recipient(s) are not what's been assumed up to now? Imagine the ramifications.......

If Stepney didn't hand it over, you'd have to wonder who did.
I know, Captain Obvious to the rescue. |
