Liberty Buys Into Las Vegas Circuit
Liberty is self promoting Las Vegas and has bought the real estate to support the race. They should be congratulated in putting their money where their mouth is and taking some of the risk in promoting F1 in the US and they obviously are intent on it being a long term investment. On the other hand it deprives promoters of a chance to make some money.

I have doubts about the wisdom of this.If all goes well, the advantage is obvious. If the event turns out to be less than wonderful, how do they recoup the investment?Might it mean that they persist with running the race if the teams and spectators don't think much of it?A more detached approach has advantages too.

It gives Liberty total control and I can only see that as a positive thing for them as the primary promoter of F1. It always surprised me that Bernie did not do this as he always liked to be the boss and force everyone to do things his way whereas he could have had total control and maybe that is why he bought his own circuit in the end.

I think Bernie did own a few circuits. Paul Ricard I know he owned. Didn’t he also own Kyalami at some point? And I think he owned one of the newer circuits, Turkey seems to spring to mind

You would have to think that F1 is going to experience a renaissance of epic proportions when reading this https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/wh...plot/10304870/
There is a lot of tradition in F1 and Liberty are determined to change that and introduce change that a lot of people will not like. |

I don't think F1 should ditch it's traditional European events yet. It's still where the F1 teams are based and where most of the fanbase comes from. Other countries round the world have interest too, but there are too many that don't

It will have to be fake both, Vegas is ripping out their grasses. Yeah, the morons put irrigation systems in the medians of roads to WASTE water making the medians look green in the FING desert. Just now deciding hey maybe that's not a good idea because they had to ration water the last couple years. A few hotels had to actually develop schedules for water use and were considering upping the water charges and adding meters to bill guests.

Only a few days ago I was reading a news report about the way in which the water consumption in Las Vegas had lowered the water level in one of the man made lakes. To the point where some bodies that had been dumped there had been exposed.Nothing to do with F1,but it does illustrate the way in which doing something or other may lead to an outcome nobody would have predicted.

They should go the whole hog and have things like fake pyramids, a fake Eiffel Tower, fake Venetian canals and a fake Statue of Liberty. Really show Miami how to do it.
And to show that high degree of irony they could ditch DRS. Quote:

It might not be the best move for F1, so I remain to be convinced. It might be overkill having 3 events in the US. America has it's own F1 fanbase, but it probably is trying to do much to make it more popular over there
