Le Mans/FIA Trophy
Are the ACO still going to announce 'firm' details about the new 2004 series.
Hopefully after the pitifull FIA SCC turnout in recent times Ratel understands that the ACO clout is needed to attract the prototypes. If there are only 4 races it would limit the impact on FIA GTs and I am sure 'big' teams such as BMS would like to compete in a small series of prestige European races along with there FIA GT campaign. Afterall how much does it cost the Euro teams to ship there cars to Sebring/PLM each year in order to guarantee an LM entry. Last edited by JAG; 1 May 2003 at 20:59. |

Not yet, I would expect some sort of announcement this weekend, if not then they will confirm everything in June.

I agree, rdjones...probably in June, though...I'm a P.R. Guy for a living and making those announcements as part of the big event when virtually all of you primary and secondary media are there is a great, yet inexpensive way, to get the word out far and wide to those who will spread it for you....

On the Euro Teams shipping to Sebring or PLM:
That's where the ACO does a sponsor deal with AirBus or a big Cargo Air Freight company as the "Official Transporter of the LM Tournament" and the teams are responsible for getting their cars to a certain disembarkment point (Paris?) to be shipped en masse... It is how CART and the IRL have travelled overseas, and the series does it via trades with the shippers for prominent visibility, signage at the races, etc.... |

So the European Endurance Series has actually been confirmed for 2004 with 4 races and a race at the end of 2003. Looks like the end of the FIA SCC and not too soon in my opinion as Ratel seems to be involved in the new LM series.
