Duchy Raceway Challenge
There's been no activity on here for a couple of days so time for a new challenge.
This is Duchy Raceway, somewhere in the US. It was created as a small national track in the 60s. There was a proposal for an extended national circuit and a grand prix track in the late 70s but the money ran out and it was never built. Track direction is clockwise & the length is about 1.5-2km, though you can change that if you wish. Your challenge is to create a grand prix track suitable to hold the US GP. The national circuit must remain unchanged. You should aim to produce a track with a mix of a modern feel & some 'classic'-style corners. Track length should be between 4.5 & 7.5 km. A pit lane renovation/extension is also required. Have fun! 1-the track 2-The first, unbuilt extension proposal |

Here's my go. Not quite 4.5 km, but close enough.
I made the national circuit 2.5km because otherwise the track width was about 6m. Now it is 9m/30ft which would be fairly typical for a track built in the 60s. I wasn't all that keen on the final section of the track - on closer inspection it reminded me of Imola - Tosa followed by Tamburello chicane followed by Tosa again! So it's left out and the new GP extension begins after the first 'Tosa' |

This hasn't come out quite as I had intended...it's anticlockwise

That's not half bad, SWF. I see Bahrain, Barcelona and Estoril influences, though.

I've Monza-fied it:
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/6...lengekxhy7.png edit: The pitlane also has a modified exit that cuts across the new pitstraight for the National circuit, but I didn't draw it. Last edited by cosmicpanda; 25 Nov 2007 at 12:24. |

I must admit my first thought was an oval, but I wasn't happy with the outlines I came up with. Hence the design in post #4
