Jordan Testing Times.
Jordan have had a testing start to testing in Barcelona.
PF1:After completing a few laps in the new EJ13 during the morning, a minor fuel leak caused an engine bay fire. The team spent the new few hours repairing the damage to the car, however the problems did not stop there. In the afternoon after putting in a few more laps, Fisichella once again found himself back in the garage as a gearbox problem cut short the day's testing. We did a few installation laps this morning in the wet and just two fairly gentle timed laps. We had a problem quite early on which meant we couldn't run until late this afternoon and I only got a couple of laps before a problem with the gearbox stopped us again," Fisichella said. "It's difficult to get a proper impression of the car on a day like this but I feel there's quite a good response from the car and engine. Let's wait until later in the week to evaluate it properly." Not a promising start, but I suppose that's what testing's for! |

Yeah but the engine is proven to be reliable, today wasnt any better.
Bit difficult to tell really, some teams have no reliability issues and then can have them mid-season for no apparent reason Just hope 13 isn't an unlucky number... |

Hopefully once the problems are shaken out the car will be reliable, too early to tell yet though. It is encouraging that they at least seem to understand what the problems are and are able rectify them. Most of them seem to be quality issuse.
If you have allowed yourself enough time in the program then you will not loose time through these issues. needs to post respectable times and be doing 50+ laps a day by the end of the week I would imagine or potential sponsors will go cold(er) Few questions for the better informed: How many chasis has Jordan taken to europe Who are the drivers on duty Have any money men been seen hanging over the pitwall Who designed the Jordan gerabox (heard that there was major ford input) Have Jordan given up with the double clutch idea |

Most tests are free - best bet though is to contact the relevant circuit before you go to check arrangements etc.

No Jordan running at all on wednesday 22nd, from autosport:
"Which was more than can be said for Jordan, who halted testing while a faulty part was sent back to England to be replaced. However it was delayed at Barcelona airport and Giancarlo Fisichella is not expected back on track until at least tomorrow afternoon" This is not encouraging at all, especialy with BAR posting 1.5 sec off of TFG and Jag running reliably (apart from lunching an engine!) |

Hmm, a rear wing failure on the last day too. Hope things get better soon. We still have no idea about the potential of the car.
When's their next test? Next week I would imagine. Anyone got any info? |

Jordan did some solo running on friday, fisi seems happy, time would have been good for a first days running.....
From F1 racing: "After several installation laps, I managed to do some proper running," Fisichella told Autosport. "It was very good because, checking the data, we were able to set 1:19.0 lap times immediately without pushing or changing set-ups. It was a lot of fun and very encouraging. The car is much more stable than last year's in all areas. It is still very under- steery at the moment, but we can control that when start working on set-ups. I'm especially pleased with the engine, it has good power and is very reliable." |

I would've been more worried if the team had started breaking lap records. Given the current trend, that would be quite a bad sign.

That's better. Second only to the F2002 and faster than all the other 2003 cars.
Much better day at Valencia. http://www.f1universe.com/browseto.php3?hid=153501 |

A second quicker than last year on the first day, encouraging provided that the car is of legal weight. Quicker than BAR and Jag? second only to RB? maybe Jordan have designed a "winner" and it looks good too.

The car certainly looks the nicest out of the 2003 cars launched, and looks better than most of the cars of recent years.

When they say it is a second quicker than last years car, do they mean at the same time last year, or a second quicker than last years car ever managed at Valencia?

They probably mean a second quicker that last years pre-season testing, though it is impossible to compare unless you are running in exactly the same conditions on both days, which is unlikley. the best comparisson is between cars running on the same track at the same time, but even then you dont know the tyre condition or fuel levels, low fuel and new tyres should be able to get you a second even on a car of legal weight.
