Curb/Ripple Strip Styles

Hello folks!

I wasn't sure of the best place for this, but I figured racers are probably the best people to ask about it.

I'm looking for a circuit anorak; someone who knows all the fine details of a circuit's features. This particular question relates to curbing. I've seen a few different styles of curbs in the UK alone, and I'm curious to see just how many different styles there are, what their pro's and con's are, roughly when certain designs came into being and why... Everything anyone could ever know about circuit curbing. Photo's or diagrams are very helpful!

There must be an anorak out there somewhere!

Thankyou for reading!

Glen.

if the MSA get their way - kerbs wont matter - maybe you should study the frictional properties of different types of white paint!

Yes, well said.
The reason I ask, though, is that I design circuits for animations and racing sims and I'd like a good selection of curbs to use. So far, I've seen three or four types. The first being flat, lifeless patches of concrete. Second being sawtooth ones which are pretty common. Then there are those blocky ones which are seemingly quite common around less developed venues such as Thruxton. There's also the style with spots on, which I've only seen a couple of times. I seem to remember Will Hoy talking about them on his TV programme; calling them 'cow-pie' curbs, though I might be wrong as it was a very long time ago.

So yes, I'd like to know what styles there are, so I can use the correct ones as and when I think they're needed. I just thought it might be something interesting for folks to talk about.
