solution to curb cutting
If max and bernie + mates stood at each chicane in their fia blazers -do you think the drivers would stop their curb cutting?I'd love to find out....

I think we'd see a heavy rise in curb cutting if that were to happen!

Surely the only solution to kerb cutting is to take out every chicane on every track in the calendar? I hate chicanes anyway.

Someone should start up one of those internet petitions to convince them of your idea.

There will be atleast one car not running over the curbs. Joss the Boss will miss the corners completely.

Just take out all the kerbs everywhere, entirely. They have no need, and they cause more controversy. Plus removing the kerbs increases the lap times fractionally. At a place like Imola it might be worth a second or maybe two a lap

Make BIG curbs so they HAVE to stay on the track or tear something up

Or guardrails like the 'Virage A Noghes' (last chicane at Monaco)

I say get rid of the green run off patches like at Montreal, that way the drivers would be punished for going too deep rather than getting away with it as they do now....
But I'd prefer no chicanes too!!! |

V8 SuperCar race at Pukehohe (spelling?) this year, there were the good old fashioned tyres to prevent burb cutting. Unsurprisingly, they were quickly taken out.
When a flood of punctures hit the field, an investigation revealed a spike that had been holding the tyres in place was still there.... You never know! |

Good. No chicanes and no curbs. Just spikes in the "cut" area. Maybe B-M could hold them...

Kerbs are there for a purpose. You'll notice that in most places they are not flat, but have a profile which causes a vibration through the steering, hence the alternative name, rumble strips. The purpose of this is to warn a competitor that a wheel is on the edge of the track & allow corrective action to be taken before the vehicle gets onto the much less grippy grass. Remove the kerbs & you'll have lot more offs.
The green run-off areas are intended to keep things moving; in many places they replace gravel traps. If a driver spins & runs off onto a wide runoff he can just recover & continue; in a gravel trap, not only will his race be over & his car possibly damaged, but if the car is in a dangerous position it will be necessary to bring out the safety car or even in extreme cases to red flag the race to allow its recovery. |

The kerbs are there so that the circuit owners don't have to keep filling the holes that form on the inside of the track from people cutting the corners.

I reckon they should place Ninja's spinning round and round with swords to stop kerb cutting.

You know what they should do? They should remove the kurbs, plant trees right up to the edge of the track, and remove all those bloody chicanes and that sort of ****. And hold races on the old Nurburgring. That would certainly stop most of the kurb cutting.

They could have a chicaneless Monza. Just like in the 60's.
And 360+ speeds. |
