Marcos

As the "Best looking sports car" thread was getting sidetracked (partly my fault), I thought I'd open a separate thread on Marcos.

I remember there being complications with the width of the LM600 vis-a-vis the FIA GT series; also a gearbox issue, perhaps? But I hoped they'd be solved and we'd see the multi-coloured burbling monster back in the championship, challenging the Vipers and Porsches (as were then dominating). But now Cor Euser seems to have drifted off the the Euro GT Series (whatever THAT is). A shame. Thoughts, people?

Garp should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There is one roadgoing version built by Eurotech. It never gone on the road. As far as i know this car sits somewhere in a barn under a pile of scrap. I heard from the carbon supplier of Eurotech that the LM600 is built under GT1 regulations. It's some kind of a LMP900 with all it's quickrelease drivetrain components.

Like most of the GT1 cars. It's a purpousebuilt racecar. The roadgoing version is only for homologation reasons. So a GT1 looks more like a LMP than a GT. The LM600 is just that. For instance with a LM600 you can change the gearbox and drivetrain in a few minutes, like the audi.

I think I am right in saying that the reason the '600' was not allowed to run was the location of the gearbox. The road cars had the gearbox at the front and the racer had it moved to the back a la F550, Porsche 924/44/68 - for better weight distribution.

Therefore the car was not the same as the homolgated road version - I assume, since Marcos went bust, they didn't have the money to build a road car with the 'box in the back??!

Pity...

I think there is a road going LM600 in Holland, i think it is used regularly (although i dont think it would be much use for the shopping)

I hope i've attached the right image, i have many files of LM600's with similar names.

I think this is the latest version of the Marcos LM600. The car is owned by Herman Buurman and build by Eurotech.

It's a very nice (colored) car.

My best memory of the Euser/Lockie LM600 was when I was stood next to it when they started it up...

It's a most peculiar feeling because it was like my internal organs were being usred as a reverbirating chamber...

A very impressive looking car and a sound to back up its looks.

Nice pic FIRE ! And nice car...

I'd like to see back the Marcos, and the Callaways as well (sorry, out of this thread), in the GT category...
