KOOL want to stay in CART if...

Last night on the RPM2Nite broadcast Robin Miller said that KOOL is interested in staying in CART but are not happy with only 10 events of 20 in the United States next year. Is KOOL sold anywhere besides the US? I can understand them not being interested in advertising in countries where they don't exist when they can in the country they do exist. CART is right now scrambling to come up with some dates in the US with the following possibilities..

St. Petersburg, Fla.: The city approached CART about a race at their permanent road course at the fairgrounds.

Las Vegas: Looks like a street race may happen instead of an oval date.

Miami: A possible tie in with the ALMS event in the streets of Miami. CART has history there.

"KOOL" isn't sold here in Europe. B&W has other brands here - most well-known is "Barclay". Many of my friends do smoke "Barclay" so I quess "KOOL" is good one in US?

/non-smoker,

And what I have heard St. Petersburg will be in 2003 - CART wants it and now if city council says OK it will be in 2003 schedule and maybe another airport race

Las Vegas may be on in 2002 already and it will be on oval. Rumor says LVMS wants CART to rent the track from them:confused: CART can show then how good they are in promoting the race

I do not believe they are sold in Oz. That Florida street race idea sounds great. I really hope it goes ahead.

Is it just me, or don't TV viewers make up a much larger slice of the audience that CART reaches than just those at the track.

This raises some questions- are the Tv ratings that much worse for offshore events? What is wrong with the US TV coverage? Could the fact that the IRL is actually polling to be more popular in the State than CART recently?

If I were going to be investing vast amounts of money, I'd be going for the series which offers the best returns...

BTW- Isn't Kool signed up with Green for some time to come?

The agreement runs through 2002 season - so 1 more year to go.

This has been mentioned a few times around here recently. Basically ABC has royally shafted CART. It would be interesting to see some real figures on viewership but I don't know if it would be possible to get unbiased numbers.

Apart from past damage done, the sponsors are making their decisions on the (perceived) quality of the future broadcast package (not surprisingly). This is another area were current lack of confidence is evident.

Well, now how do you think this will affect the mythical Penske announcement?
