Cheever to return to the drivers seat
According to rpm.espn.com, with the breakdown of the Menard/Cheever relationship, Eddie will return to #51 whenever Chevy gets their new engine up and running.
With the end of MCT, who now owns the TWR engine department that they bought, Menard or Cheever? |

Menard does.
Eddie is going Speedway, and Speedway is breaking in the Cosworth engine with Panther Racing. |

The rumor is that Hornish did a top speed with the Chevy, then took the Cosworth out and was 5 mph faster in only 10 laps. But I still can't see Ford allowing a Cosworth engine to be badged "Chevy". What possible motivation could Ford have to help them?

Ford has zero. Except that they told Cosworth to "turn a profit." And this is the only sitting on the shelf product for Cosworth to sell.
Remember also, what motivation does Mercedes Benz have letting its Illmor divison motors get badged by Honda. I guess it comes down to making money. Ford isn't running IRL, but it has a divison with an IRL motor. So sell it to some other party. Doesn't matter if it is a rival. |

Or COsworth is getting a free test of its engine to enter in 2004 as a Ford

You know, I was thinking about that... but the IRL rules wouldn't allow it, would they?
