just read this on www.f1-live.com

The OrangeArrows Formula One outfit announced today that together with team driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen, they have agreed to bring their contractual relationship to an end due to the fact that the future at the Leafield squad is so uncertain.
"I'd like to thank the team for the 12 races I have had with them," Heinz-Harald said. “The team definitely has real potential so I hope they can sort their problems out and realise their goals. I wish every one of them all the best for the future".
At this stage it is unclear as to the German driver's future, however there have been reports that former team Sauber are interested in re-hiring his services.

As I posted in another thread, it is by no means impossible that Mark Webber may have been sought by the new owners of Arrows.

HHFs got to think about his retirement fund tho, he needs to get some more cash in the bank methinks!

Heinz back to Jordan next year at the insistance of Deutsche Post makes sense to me (if the law suite can be sorted) but that drive wouldn't be until next season, so why terminate the contract at Arrows now? The Future maybe uncertain at Arrows, but why not drive until either the end of the season or when (and i hope it don't happen) the team folds?!

According to that same article as before, HHF is not paid by Arrows, he receives payment by points.

So going somewhere else is sensible. Though I don't doubt that he has enough cash in the bank.

Frentzen released from Arrows

F1-Live have announced that Frentzen has left Arrows and will not be driving for them for the rest of the season. Who will replace him from Hungary?

Autosport are now carrying the story, found this to be the most interesting part of the article though!

According to this week's Autosport magazine, Sauber is believed to have told Frentzen that he can take over its second car from Brazilian youngster Felipe Massa for the balance of the 2002 season, if he commits to the Swiss team for 2003. "It would only make sense if we could sign Heinz for next year as well," said Peter Sauber when asked about the possibility of an immediate deal for Frentzen.

Obviously, he will be in demand and I am almost certain we will see him race in the Hungarian GP.

His options in order of likelyhood:

1) Sauber. The team is annoyed over Massa's hissy fit about Team Orders in Germany. HHF would like to be at a German speaking Team with a German Speaking Teammate. Both he and Heidfeld are from Monchengladbach and I think would make a daunting team..

2) Jordan. Sato goes away with the probable loss of Honda engines. EJ settles the lawsuit against the Team for Having dismissed HHF last year.

3) TOYOTA. McNish and the Team inssit there will be no changes. TOYOTA need a front-line driver, again we get the German connection.

4) Jaguar. HHF is probably no better than either Swerve or PDLR, but he has more fire in his belly. My guess is that it could be a response to Ford's ultimatum to Jaguar to get their ac5t in gear. I don't see HHF amd Lauda as being very chummy though.

If we take the Sauber rumors to be true, what becomes of Massa?? A direct swap to Arrows? I think HHF would be great at Sauber, with a decent and reliable car he is a good bet for a point or two!

I think Frentzen will probably go back to Sauber, for reason's already stated about Massa earlier.

As for Jordan, no chance i feel, why should he feel he will be treated any better than before, no matter what the sponsers want, it didn't stop Eddie before, plus his lawyers will probably block the move again.

This just adds more complexion to the mystery of who's going where next year. It's getting all too confusing!!!

I think HHF has a great chance of going to Sauber myself. PS has been chasing him for the majority of the season, and he could be in the seat as early as Hungary.
