Paintwork Haze
Hi,
I have a Yaris Verso in Metallic Black and have a problem with the paintwork. I am a wash and polish person but I was unable to get my usual brand one time, so I used a more, lets say, budget polish. Since then I have a haze all down the sides of my car, more noticeable when the sun is shinning, so if I park my car in the shade it looks nice and shiny, park it in the sun it looks hazy. I washed the car over and over again, applying my quality polish, but I still have a haze. Would something like T Cut Black sort the problem out, the car is still under warranty so I do not want to do anything too drastic. I would be grateful for any advice. Many Thanks ESR |

What is the finish? Metallic? What colour? You shouldn't leave the polish on too long before buffing it off with a different cloth.

Thanks for your reply mattracer, I do buff it off virtually straight away, I have had no problems in the past with autoglym polish but that time I used simonez(not sure of spelling) and since then I have had this problem, Toyota Yaris Verso is a Yaris MPV, easily confused for the Popemobile, my friends call it a mini hearse, but she is cute in an odd kind of way.
I know Black metallic is a difficult colour to keep clean and shiny. |

A pal of mine waxed his car, and being black metallic, he had the same hazing after using a cheapo polish.
The only gear he reckoned that shifted it was 'Saphir Wax' which was hellishly expensive but did the trick. |

You need to find out what clear coat finish Toyota is using on that particular car. Some clearcoats require a non-abrasive or extra fine abrasive polish. Some finishes need a strong buffing compound in the wax to get it to shine. It sounds like you may have scuffed up your clear coat and may need to polish it to get it back to a clear finish. Talk to your local Toyota body shop/paint shop or see a professional auto painter's recommendation.

ask your local motor spares shop for G3 compound, its great at bringing out scratches and paint fade
