x_dt should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hungarian GP - the start

The drivers/cars starting offline in Hungary have always been at a disadvantage compared to those starting on the clean side of the track. With the abolition of the warmup last year those starting offline were at an even greater disadvantage than usual having been unable to 'clean' their side of the grid. IIRC the first 4 cars into the first corner were those who had started 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th respectively (Alonso, Webber, Barrichello and Kimi).

Will it be as bad this year for Rubens, Button, Pizzonia and the rest of those who have qualified in even positions?

I expect Sato to be in 2nd by turn one, possibly even better. Put it that way.

I would say Alonso in P2 by turn 1. Those Renaults are lightning fast off the start line.

The advantage of being on the clean side of the grid (the side the cars usually go down on an ordinary lap) is huge here,a nd has increased now that the warm-up is gone.

Unless it rains overnight or tomorrow morning, and washes some of the dust away, I can imagine most of the odd-numbered-grid starters gaining places, and most even-numbered ones losing them.

Last year was exacerbated by Ralf's very poor start blocking Montoya behind him, and it won't neccessarily be the same this year.

The Hungarian organisers tend to vaccuum the track now so it's less of a problem than previous years.

Speed Channel said that they have a new sweeping machine in use there this year.

It picked-up an incredible 4 tons of dirt and dust!

They also mentioned, that it was alot greener than they had ever seen the place before. Many of the more barren dirt area's now have grass on them.

So maybe the dirty side of the track may not be as dirty as normal...

i put my money on sato making a "banzai" (please, nothing derogatory meant nor implied) run to the first corner and trying his best to 'best' both ferraris. chances are it'll be the most exciting part of the race anyhow.

I hope it'll work GP Racer, it always strikes me as a farce when the guy starting 3rd has an advantage over the guy starting 2nd.

I disagree; Ferrari teamwork will be in full force and I look for RB to do the Schumi chop on Sato .. likely giving the advantage to Alonso or maybe Button.

Neither do I to be honest - I'd rather see them beaten fair and square, on merit.

Well, the start was exactly as I had pictured it... shoulda turned off the TV right then however. That race was the epitome of boring and exposed F1 at it's worst.
