Ortelli's comments on DSC from the LMS test: "we have reliability things to fix before we are ready for Le Mans," has me puzzled. Did he not finish of completly clarify by finishing with 'and that is why we won't be going this year'?
Also, Saleen is helping Oreca, and is that support different then what ACEMCO had? Did Saleen give support to ACEMCO? robert |

I think that Saleen did give some support to Acemco yes, although a very small ammount in comparissan to what Oreca are receving.

Their issue is not with the pace of the Saleen (which I'm sure they'll hope to improve anyway) but the problems they face in the pitlane over 24 hours. Certain components need to be redesigned or 'beefed up', and a lot of the repairs which are almost expected over a 24 hour race simply take too long to undertake. So there's a fundamental redesign of the car underway in order to reduce component failures and facilitate quicker repairs under race conditions. This is the area in which the car is least competitive when it's up against the likes of Corvette and Aston Martin. They took delivery of their first car too late to be ready by June. Only 5% of the development programme is complete. |

I understand Oreca.
One team comes to my mind, which had one of the fastest cars on track but had an DNF because of technical problems: VITAPHONE RACING back in 2004. Nobody will disagree with me when I say that the S7R is a fast car but has some major reability probs. Good luck Oreca. |

Yes the Saleen S7R does have some big reliabilty issues but if any team can turn the car into a race winning GT1 contender it must be Oreca.

A Saleen would still be able to run at the front in any GT championship, it just needs to be run properly. My hopes aren't high for the Konrad cars in the ALMS to be honest.
From the times I've seen of the Oreca and Zakspeed cars so far though, the european cars should be right near the sharp end. |

I would think Konrad will be winding down his Saleen efforts after this season.

It is still a drastic decision. You would assume any team you race the problems out, if they can.
A shame we won't see them. |

Currently he’s building a complete new S7R for ALMS races, to replace his ´01 young timer Saleen. Will not be very easy to wind down all efforts he’s sitting on 3 – 4 Saleen which are not famous for their reliability.
