Hi folks, i'm glad to announce that we finally have the new forum software installed, and up and running - I hope you like it as much as we do!
A few of the new features:
- Faster Back End - Instead of slow Perl and flat text files, the new software is powered by speedy PHP and MySQL - access speed should be suitably faster, and the search function is lightening fast!
- User time zone - go to your profile and select your local time zone - all times on the forum will then display in your local time.
- Preview Post - click the relevant button before posting your note in order to preview your post.
- Go to latest post - click the blue arrow to go direct to the latest post.
- View new posts - this option is on the main forum page and allows you to view a list of posts which have been responded to since your last visit.
- Email notification - sign up to receive an email when a topic you are posting to has been responded to - not just those which you start.
- Member List - improved member list accessible from each page.
There's much more - simply go and explore! Their are three main differences between this software and the old:
- New address - please update your bookmarks to point to http://tentenths.com/forum/
- User login required - due to cookie problems with the old setup, you are required to 'log in' with this system. This is much more stable.
- Disk space - is much reduced. This will enable us to keep older posts in the system for much longer rather than prune them in order to preserve disk space.
At the same time as setting up the new software we have streamlined the number of forums and we also have a couple of new forum hosts too!
- Racing Sims and Books and Book Reviews have merged to become Armchair Enthusiast.
- Rallying has been merged into All Other Classes due to the lack of interest in the forum.
- Classifieds has been removed for the same reason.
- Crash Test joins RIKB as joint forum host of the Touring Car forum.
- marcus makes a welcome return as joint forum host of the Sportscar Racing forum.
