You might want to have a look around at retailers first, it might be that you could be able to get a 20D and the 100-400L without strecthing your budget.

Ok I'll have a look. Anyone know of any good places to buy second hand ones? I've looked on eBay but a touch hesitant if there are other options available.

I would not use the 350D if you can avoid it. Go for the 20D (should be discounts given the 30D is now out).

Try London Camera Exchange who list a lot of used stock on the LCE website, www.LCEgroup.co.uk as do Mifsuds, www.mifsuds.com and also Wilkinsons www.wilkinson.co.uk

One thing i would definitely suggest to anyone - find the lens you need then buy the body you can afford.
If you get a good lens now it will last you through your next couple of body upgrades. |

I need also an adivce.
I want to buy a dslr system and i don´t know exactly which one. Would you prefer a Canon EOS 350D inclunding the Canon EF 70-200mm 4,0 lens or a Nikon D70s with an Sigma 100-300mm 4,0 lens and a Nikon AF-S DX 18-70? Because 100mm are too short at some places, like spa or so on, so i have to change the lenses and not only use this standard zoom lens in the pits. With the canon system i don´t need to change the lenses at the track, i think. |

.. don't forget these are all crop cameras. 1.6x sensors. so 200mm = 320mm
plus a 1.4x converter and its over 448mm.. Maybe the new sigma 70-200 2.8 ex dg macro for 599 plus a Kenko pro 1.4x converter... Si |
